My dove field (sunflowers w/ a perimeter of millet) is being taken over by ragweed!!! I used Treflan HFP, but I guess it doesn't work on ragweed? Is there anything I can do?
This late in the season I would let'um grow. Ragweed is one of the favorite foods of doves. I've had some good shoots over ragweed and foxtail.

The doves will like the ragweed just as much as the sunflower.Your field won't look as good, but your going to bushhog anyway.

Herper, I'm not trying to get in your bidness, but I grew up in Adair county and still have family there. There is a program called "CREP" that landowners in some parts of Adair county are eligible for. Essentially, there is payment for habitat practices that help prevent pollutants from getting in the Green River. The Private Land Biologist will have the info.
Good Luck.

Will it pay for my dove field!!<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle> Also, this is off topic, but do you guys know what rifle would be suitable for my 11 year old girl to shoot a deer with?
Herper, I have a 12 year old daughter that I bought a 7mm-08.
About the same recoil as a .243, but it packs a mean punch down range.
As far as getting off track, hey if your talking kids going hunting, let's get off track!!

I don't think there's a program with funding for a dove field. There might be something if you plant switchgrass or korean lespedeza, doves love that, but not sunflower and millet anyway.A 7mm 08 is great for kids and you to.
