View Full Version : Russia and China War Games Again
I just heard on Fox news that Russia and China had joint war games on Russian soil today or yesterday. 6000 troops and the president of Iran was there as an observer. They said they are sending us a message to stay out of their area?
More and more it seems that the US is alone.

Russia, China, and Iran...when did we ever count them as our close allies?

Id consider them our enemies. Mabey I should have said that it seems that our enemies are making stronger alliances against us and It appears that we are standing more alone in the world.

China would dry up and blow away if there was a sudden halt in exports to the US.
A whole lot of "US" companies would go belly up as well since they've placed most of their eggs in the cheap China product and labor basket.

I heard on the news that China executed two of the heads of the plants that produced those contaminated goods they sold us.

I didn't hear that but supposedly the head honcho for the China operation hung himself.
I also heard today on wall street journal radio show that car makers are partnering up with China it think Chrysler.

True.
Teaming up with Chery Automobile to import cheap cars made in China.
Chery has been courting the big three for a while now trying to partner with one of them. They knew they couldn't break into the US market on their own.

I don't mind China making my Walkman or my toaster, but my car? Hmmm...I think not.
China has neither pride nor honor like the Japs or even we Americans. China wants American dollars, pure and simple and if they have to put lead paint on children's toys, they'll do it. I saw a crash test on Chinese cars and they failed spectacularly.

The US has sold it's soul to the devel and in the end we will pay. The total greed of corporate America is going to be it's down fall one day. Every company is rushing to maximize profit by outsourcing all the manufacturing jobs to other countries. It wont be long that we will not be able to make anything here. We will be at the mercy of someone else in times of need and will not be able to do anything about. Once all these jobs are long gone so is the knowlede and infrastucture that goes along with it.

You can call it corporate greed, but in the end, it is the whole country, me and you, that drive the move overseas. You and I want cheap goods, the corporate suits want a good bottom line to keep their jobs, and the end investors want a good dividend to enhance their own bottom line.
If you can buy a car cheaper down the road, you will do so. Same for hiring labor. It's cheaper overseas.

I believe you hit the nail right there. There has been a wholesale shift of the way people use and save their money nowdays. The stock market and what I like to call "money for nothing" drives everything now.
When I was a kid, my parents didn't have money in the stock market. Dad had a pension plan with his company, savings in the bank and social security thrown in there. Times have changed a lot just in the last 20 years.

Trust me is 100% right.
It's NOT the companies that went overseas just for the heck of it but it's US, you and me, all the American customers.
In the last 25 years how many times did YOU pick up a CHEAPER "made in China" over a more EXPESIVE "made in America" product to save a little money?
Every time WE choose a CHEAPER overseas product that forced the companies to look for a CHEAPER way to make the products or go out of business. All they could do was go overseas to a "cheaper" workforce.
All those times in the last 25 years WE'VE picked up the cheaper product we push more and more companies overseas and today almost everything we buy is made in China so we don't have much choice today.

Trust me is partially right! I'm so dang cheap that in the last year I've bought 3 different $29 DVD players. They last about 2 months and crap out! I shoulda spent some dough and bought a good one! It's the same with most products these days.
Throw in CEO's that make multi millions with huge stock options and corporate expense accounts along with unions driving up labor rates which forces alot of companies overseas. Between cheap americans, lazy americans and greedy americans, we're ruining our country!!!

You think China is seeing the effects of all the food and toy recalls coming from their products?

I think it's having some effect. How much, I'm not sure.
It hasn't ground any of the companies to a halt here so I would imagine it's about the same over there.

But how do you think that the pension plan and the bank savings made more money? Both were invested in the market. That's how banks are able to pay you interest on your money.

Not necessarilly the pension plan but probably the banks. Now you have millions upon millions of individuals invested with their personal fingers in the pie.
