I no longer have one. I did have to have one and a pager for work. Soon as I didnt have to have it I got rid of it. In the last 3 weeks Ive come a Gnats wisker of being hit four times by some idiot talking on a cell phone and not paying attention to the road. About 2 months ago I almost got ran over walking into wal-mart by a young girl jabbering on one:mad: I understand the need for communication but I cant understand having one practically surgically attached to your ear paying more attention to it than the road:rolleyes:
It would be a great thing if they would outlaw them while driving. There are some people who can manage 2 tasks at once, but there's many who shouldn't be driving at all and especially not while on the phone.
I drive for a living and I can actually spot people that are on the phone just by how they are driving from a good way off. I have been thinking very seriously about putting a train horn on my truck to go along with my middle finger and death stare.;)

I have one, but when mine rings I check to see who it is and then call them back after I have stopped. If it's important, I'll actually get off the road and take the call....Why risk possibly getting hit by someone or me hitting someone by talking to someone on the phone. Because some people really get excited when on the phone and do all kinds of weird stuff while driving and talking....
It;s like people who give you directions and they use their hands the whole time making arm movements while telling you how to go..... These same people do the same thing while on the phone, I've actually seen people doing it, while on the phone in front of me or right beside me at a traffic light....
GET OFF THE ROAD AND TAKE / MAKE THE CALL !!!!

I had some chick get behind me in Danville on my way to Lexington and she had one stuck to her head the whole trip. When we got to Rocky Top store someone was turning in and there goes the dominoe effect
(if you know rockytop you know what im talking about) and she dam near ran over me and had the nerve to throw her hands up and started jabbering something, all the while never missing a beat on the phone
Another thing that really gets me is some rude SOB that cant get off one long enough to walk in a store to pay for thier gas

We were seeing some really nice bucks last year, so my Dad went and sat with my son in his ground blind during gun season. My son saw one of the bucks crossing a field and coming toward the woods that they were sitting in and my Dad's cell phone started ringing.
I don't much care for cell phones in vehicles or in hunting blinds...

I hate-, hate-em, when driving. my daughter in law wouldn't think of not buckling her kids up, but drives while talking on a cell all the time with my grandbabies in the car, I tell her that is close to child abuse, we have cell phones for breakdowns etc., but will never talk on them while driving, maybe our legislators need to know our feelings. Maybe they should make it an automatic 50% at fault for anyone involved in an accident while on a cell phone.

Well I have a phone use it for work all the time, my business this time of year phone rings all the time . I have bluetooth , and use a full headset , like a operator would use . I do not have any problems both hands on the wheel , But I do agree alot of people cannot drive at all when on the phone !!! But it is no different I guess than the woman you see driving putting their makeup on or doing their hair . Or even the ones working on the laptop . People always think it won't happen to them . I feel they need to put some laws into affect about phones , but banning them I think will never happen . Over the years when I drove truck before I quit I seen alot of people having sex and doing all kind of weird stuff , so whats a sell phone !!!!

I don't think they should completely outlaw cell phone usage while driving. I just think they should invent something to make it safer to use a cell phone while driving. A lot of cell phones have voice activated dialing and speakerphone -- I think all phones should have those features -- that might help. But some sort of device that would allow you to keep your hands on the wheel so you don't have to actually dial any numbers or even hold the phone at all would be nice. I know there's a lot of things already on the market, (ie, ear buds, Bluetooth ear pieces, cell phone holders you can mount in your car) but apparently they aren't appealing enough because no one seems to be utilizing them. OR, maybe the cell retailers need to include "automobile safe driving kits" when you purchase a cell phone. If there were enough accidents related to cell phone usage, it may become a state law for cell retailers to include something like that. Just a thought.

n . Over the years when I drove truck before I quit I seen alot of people having sex and doing all kind of weird stuff , so whats a sell phone !!!!
My b-i-l drove a truck and he said the things he saw made him uneasy driving anything less than a Kenworth. He said women were the worst; driving with their legs crossed, steering with their toes, putting makeup on, reading, gratifying themselves, (and others), all while zipping down the road at 70 mph with the cruise on.
As said, cell phones aren't the problem; idiots are the problem.

I hate it when people are wanting to pay for stuff at work but can't get off of their cell phone for a minute. They just throw their stuff on the counter and turn around talking on the phone, if anybody is standing behind them I just start helping them. It makes the other person mad and when they ask what I'm doing, I tell them they were on the phone and I was waiting till they were off because I didn't want to interupt them....man they get mad but don't say anything:D

It seems invariably when someone about sideswipes me they are on a cell phone. I don't know why everyone feels they must be constantly connected to everyone else all the time. I don't plan on ever carrying one and if i do it will be off until I need it. I know people around here that can't afford groceries that have cell phones.

I would like to add that I should have clarified....Idiots with cell phones is more the problem. Though I do think cell phones seem to perpetuate the problem with idiot drivers.

I don't think that cell phones are much worse than messing with the radio, or digging in the glove box, or some of the other previously mentioned things. I think what it comes down to is that some people are capable of driving on the phone, and others are not. Maybe they should give you a test when you get a phone to see if you can concentrate on 2 things at the same time.
What really really ticks me off is someone driving with a dog in their lap. I usually see them with the dog between their arms and it's head out the window. There is no way of predicting what the dog will do, what if it got a yellow jacket in its ear....

or what if the dog got a call on its cell phone?:D
Seriously, ever had this happen? . . . my b-i-l called me on his way home from work, presumably to talk hunting, when I heard an abrupt silence. He then came back on the phone and said he just rear-ended the car in front of him. Here's your sign!
