Picked up a set today that had the 800g thinsulate and I'm honestly thinking about exchanging already.

Reason being the other non insulated had what looked like a better sole for grip and I don't think 800g is needed for all year. I've always been cheap in the boot dept until now but I think I went to far. Do the non insulated work just as good if the right sock is worn?

Would like to know before I make another mistake!!

The 800 is warmer. Burley is a good boot.

If you only wear them in the summer, they will be too hot for you.

take them back and get an uninsulated pair and then later get you a 100G pair. They will last you for years.

100g or 1000g?

W/ the right sock the non insulated would be fine during the cold parts of deer season?

I got a pair of 1000s before snow goose season this spring. I never had any cold feet issues and they actually had more support than most boots of that type I have tried. The main feature I like is them not being ankle snug like the uninsulated ones I have. Nothing better than tight ankles on clammy socks.

No, I love mine, but when it gets cold my uninsulated are worthless.

DITTO...the uninsulated models are super comfy and very nice for spring turkey, early to mid-fall archery hunting, etc. But when it gets cold outside, you might as well have nothing on. The coldest I think I've ever been while hunting was when I was wearing them during a jan. goose hunt a few years ago. I thought the neoprene lining would be fine, but I almost froze to death. I've since bought a pair of regular green, air dot sole, I think 800 gram Lacross burleys and I've not gotten cold feet yet.

I wore my uninsulated duck hunting with some thick wool socks and never got the least bit cold. That was with my feet in water so cold that it kept iceing over on my feet. Maybe it was just me, but it wasn't just that one time. I was really surprised that I stayed warm but I did.

I believe the 3.5mm neoprene boots are equivalent to a 300 or 400 gram thinsulate. I read that somewhere. I briefly checked their website, but couldn't find it there. I believe I read it in a boot review article in American Hunter Magazine. I'd say Lacrosse wouldn't advertise that...cause they state uninsulated...when in fact neoprene is an insulation... Think about it, what are the best wadders made out of to fish ice cold streams.

I just bought my second pair of Burley Sports, just because of the price on sale... My first have had issues of coming apart around the edges, however I know several people without issues...I think I just got a fluke pair... They are hot for sure, and they work good down to the mid-30s with the right socks... I say their optimum temperature range is 40 (maybe 35ish)-60 degrees...

I have the uninsulated ones that I wear year round. In the winter I wear a good pair of wool socks to keep my feet warm. If the weather gets really cold I will put a hand warmer in my boot to keep my toes from getting cold. Other than that I cannot see any reason to not buy the noninsulated.

The A.B's are a very comforatable boot, but the biggest problem I had was ankle support. I kept turning my ankles in them. Mucks are my boot of choice. Just as comfortable, with better support (in my case).

Another thing: Where I coon hunt, I do a great amount of walking. I wore a set of A.B's out in about 6 months, where the Muck lasts around 10 mo's to a year before the tread is gone.

Just sharing my experience.
