Now that we are just a few short weeks away from "tree rat season", I thought I would give you a little project to work on before the hunting season comes upon us.

If you use loose powder, whether it be black or substitute, you can make a fixed powder measure out of a piece of antler, bone, brass or wood. Using a 29/64ths (.453) drill bit each 1/4 inch yields 10 grain weight by volume. If you shoot 80 grains of powder you will need to mark the drill bit at 2" and carefully drill the material. Be sure to mark the grain weight on the measure so you will know which one to get when you go hunting.
