Went to wally world last night to get a few groceries and the movie 300. Went back to the sporting good department and they had 3 boxes of the Winchester Xtended Range shell marked down from 38 dollars down to 13 dollars a box , of course I bought all three. Question is, Can I shoot these through a Kicks Gobblin Thunder choke tube or is this considered to be heavy shot?

Xtended Range is not considered heavy shot and can be shot thru any choke tube. Wanna make a couple of bucks off of one of those boxes?:D

Here is my two cents about those Xtended Range shells.....

I got the 3 1/2" #6....and I believe they were about $36...I got them at BPS in Cincy. I had heard they were the rave....patterning so well.

I shot them at 40 yards out of my Remington 870 Super Magnum with the Remington .: Turkey Super Full choke tube.

I wasn't at all impressed with them. They actually didn't pattern as well for me as the regular Winchester Supreme shotshells. I had a friend (the friend that told me to go out and get them) that patterned them on his gun (I'm not sure what he shoots) and they didn't pattern well for him either.

For the difference in price, I thought there should have been a significant pellet increase in my target...but there wasn't. I was very disappointed to say the least.

Has anyone else had this trouble from Winchester Xtended Range?

I havent tried the Winchester Extended range, but I use Heavy-Shot religiously. Its a little steep on the price ,but nowhere near the Winchesters. I could definetely tell a difference from the regular turkey loads and the Heavy-Shot. Probably a 30-40% increade in pattern density.

I used the Extended range this last spring and was extremely dissapointed with them. Very inconsistent patterns with them. One shot the target would be completly covered and the next shot there would be 2" holes in the pattern. I'm going back to nitros or just the regular Winchester Supremes. hw

I'd be selling it and making a quick profit.

I went to Ext Range last year and love them.I was shooting federal premium 6s and winchester Hi velocity 5s and 6s (black hulls) .I shoot 3 inch 12s Winchester Ext now out of a 665 hastings non ported and was crushing the target at 50 yards. My pellet count was 18 -25 more in the head and neck and much denser.I had to put a red dot on my gun because they were so tight in close. Some peoples guns dont like them but as for me I will never abandon hevi shot or tungsten..

I have tried Hevi shot, Winchester E R, and Hevi 13. The Hevi 13 out performs the other two by a long shot. At 48 true yards, my comp n choke will put 11 to 13 pellets in just the spine and skull on a primos pattern target.
