I went to the Elite Memorial for the final weigh-in on Onondaga Lake in Syracuse, NY (only an hr. from home). What an awesome experience. Met Ray Scott and a bunch of the fisherman. All were very friendly and approachable. Ray gave my wife a big ol southern style hug and my wife ended up meeting Mark Zona's wife and they exchanged phone numbers (they share a same illness). Mark is the host of the ESPN2 show. Fisherman went out of their way to say hi to my kids. The weights were impressive, 20 pound strings. The whole experience was great. Peter Thilveros won the $250,000k by only 2 ounces. Have any of you attended one of these events? If you get the chance, you'll have a ball.

Yep, I fished one as a non-boater a couple years ago and had a really good time for the most part. Some good and some bad in everything I guess but for the most part, it was a hoot hanging with the Pro's. Most of the Pro's are pretty cool. The one I fished was on Guntersville.

If you really want an experience, attend the Bassmaster Classic. Too awesome to even describe, sorta like a cross between a rock and roll festival and the super bowl.
For those of you who want to attend an elite series event, they are coming to Ky Lake next year.

I fished with Shaw Grisby the first day and had a blast. Top notch guy and a pleasure to share a boat with anywhere. It was as if me and one of my buddies were out fishing for the day. I met him the night before when they did the pairings. They called our names and then we went outside and discussed the plans for the next day. He talked about what he wanted to do and what he thought I should consider. I met him at the ramp the next morning and he asked me if I want to back the boat in or grab the boat. I said whatever he preferred. He put me in his new Triton with a Verado and I backed it off the trailer and then picked him up at the dock. I can't stress enough how much fun I had that day. We talked about fishing different lakes and him telling me stories. Just a great day on the water.
I fished with Homer Humphries the second day and also spent some time talking with Joe Thomas, Greg Swindle, Hank Parker and some others. Joe and Hank are top notch guys as well. In general most were pretty good guys.
It's a pretty neat deal to weigh in with some of the guys you have always admired for their fishing ability such as Brauer, Nixion, Van Dam, etc.

I have fished against that Mcdenney guy a few times I don't know if he is a pro but he sure is a tough guy to beat.
I have saw the pros on the Harris chain of Lakes in Florida that sure was a treat. The size of the fish they were weighing in was amazing. Those guys are unreal.
