I am in need of some flat rock (i.e. flagstone). Need it in all shapes, sizes, and colors (has to be flat). Going to use it to build a rock fence/wall around the place. Thought it would be a good project before deer season. Anyone have any ideas where I can get some free or cheap rock. I have removed a lot from a couple local creeks, but I need more!

drive by just about any farm locally and there will be a pile of rocks somewhere:D if you were closer i could hook you up for sure. have you looked around any new road construction for cuts through hills? i know around here every weekend there are folks in the ditches along 127 packing off truckloads of rocks.

If you want it over in this patch of the state you're going to pay dearly for it.

We've got plenty of clay and red gravel that we could send you though. :D

good idea about the new road construction.. I went down to a local job where they are cutting in a new road and found a treasure.

I bought a pallet of flagstone down in Russellville this afternoon to line my landscaping around the pool. After spreading 4 ton river rock/pebbles around the pool and edging w/ the flagstone I think my rock days are numbered. Too much work for me :D. Maybe I can find me some migrant workers to put up my wall .

I went to the local nursery and they are getting $350 per pallet for their assorted creek rock. Would take me 15 pallets to do what I need. I did find the same stone in Russelville across from Logan Aluminum for $80 a pallet...

Drive down the side of highways or parkways, we have got about 10 truck loads of flat rock free! Look where they had to blast to put a road in a mountain. BG parkway is loaded rock walls beside the roads.. Save you a ton of money this way. there is no telling how much money we saved! Watch for snakes!

We built one probably 150 feet long and about 2 feet high into a bank when I was a kid. We got all of our rock from creeks, talk about a job, but the wall is still standing as good now as the day we built it.
