allaroundhunter (http://www.kentuckyhunting.net/forums/member.php?u=1916) , better known as Joe Robinson was killed last night in a single car accident on I-71 near the Synder Freeway. Those of you that were in my first hunting club at Lapland will remember Joe as one of the owners of the building and lot, along with myself and Joe's friend Sean Purser.
Joe was an avid hunter, and spent a lot of time chasing rabbits and owned several good rabbit dogs with top notch breeding.
Joe will be missed by all who knew him and those who hunted with him in the past. somewhere among his possessions is a right gortex boot with the toe blown off by a 3.5" turkey load. I can imagine that Joe is still laughing about how that happened. See ya Joe.

Sorry to hear that. Prayers go out to his family. In looking through his back posts, I see that he was preceded in death by his father and a daughter in the last 3 years also. :(
Yesterday was a strange day. There was a locally well known individual killed in an accident within eyesight of my house yesterday afternoon as well.

Joe was a great friend of mine, I talked to him yesterday, about 3 hrs before he died, he laid all the carpet and hardwood in my house a couple of yrs ago, and was one of the hardest working guys I've ever known, he was always looking for a place to hunt since he had lost his farm to development.
Joe, I'll miss ya bud, glad you got to see your daughter come into this world, and I'm sorry she will never really have got to know you, because you were a real hunter and a real good guy.
Joe named his daughter "hunter" and I remember him saying boy or girl that's the name.
Shoot a big one in the sky
I'll be there someday to join you

Terrible story. I hope his wife and kids recover. Our prayers are with them.
Does anybody have any information on what happened? I live very close to the site of the accident, and there's been a lot of concern about the lack of safety controls on the Gene Snyder and I-71.
Wow, very sad news indeed. Prayers are sent to his heart broken family and friends.:(

Sounds like a great guy. Sorry for your loss H-digger, and the family as well.
When I was younger I asked my preacher what heaven was like. He told me "heaven is whatever you want it to be." I've always taken that to heart.
With that in mind, Joe is in the tree stand, pulling back on a booner. RIP

Victim identified in I-71 crash
The Courier-Journal
A man killed in a crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 71 was identified this morning.
Joseph Robinson, 36, of the 1100 block of Clay Avenue, died at the scene of multiple blunt-force injuries, said Gayle Norris, a deputy Jefferson County coroner.
Robinson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the Chevrolet Suburban that was traveling north on I-71 near the Gene Snyder Freeway.
Witnesses told Louisville Metro Police investigators that the Suburban started to "wobble" and then went off the right shoulder and into a ditch, said Alicia Smiley, a police spokeswoman. The Suburban then rolled as the driver tried to return to the road.
The accident happened about 5 p.m. and tied up traffic for several hours.
I have been told by a close friend of his that he had just gotten that vehicle. mechanical failure is most likely the cause of the wobble in my opinion. sad.

What a shame. My thoughts go out to his family, especially his wife. I know he posted before that he lost a daughter just a year or so ago. And just this winter he posted pictures of his new baby girl.

Thanks for posting this Tom:
As Tom said Joe was also a friend of mind from a good while back. Joe, Tom and I became friends with the first Lapland club and I got to go on quite a few hunting trips (mostly with our beagles) with Joe. We both loved to head south and hear the little hounds run the hair off an old swamp rabbit. I still remember his beagles and his first turkey which I was lucky enough to call in for him (thanks for that memory Joe). His outgoing nature and big heart were always front and center. It just does not seem right - a world without Joe in it. He called me out of the blue a month ago - I wish I would have stayed in closer contact............
Like everything else, work and family have taken me away from things like this board and friends like Joe. That is a regret, but after this I took a few hours and called a lot of my old friends (whom I don't talk to much anymore) and made sure they knew that even though our busy lives have taken us farther apart they were still my friends and I do care about them. Kind of mushy stuff, but those people like Joe make up the memories of our life and are a part of what we are.
Like someone else said, hug your kids - also call an old friend and say hello. Again, Joe had such a big heart - he will be missed and since the accident I've thought a lot about him and hope and pray he is in a better place.
My wife said it best "Joe was a good guy and it was a sad day". There is a lump in my chest as I look at those pictures you guys posted.
To old friendships! This year when I head south for swampers I'll let the first one go and I still have one of Joe's pups who is now approaching 6 years old and I hope he leads the pack with his big mouth so loud you can hear him. Joe, thank you for all the memories - you will be missed my friend.
