I am looking at one of these guns in 308 caliber. I would prefer the Model 7 because I can get it in stainless. But, are they as accurate as a Model 700. I have a Model 700 in 300 win. mag. It shoots real good. Has anyone shot both Models of guns? Can you tell any difference in them as far as accuracy?

Take neither. Switch to a Winchester Model 70. You WON'T be disappointed. Damn fine guns they got there, and not too high priced, either. Come on, give it a try. Won't hurt anything!

HI THECK
i have shot 700 remingtons for years,a few years ago i thought the model
7 would be the perfect gun ,light, accurate,so i ordered one in 308
the gun was accurate on the bench, light, recoil was not to bad,
nothing at all wrong with gun,it just did not fit me,i could not shoot it
offhand as good as i liked, for a youth or small adult it would probably
be fine.the dimensions of the 7 are funny, not really youth,or full sized
pick one up and put it to your shoulder before you buy one.
i ended up selling that one,at a loss of course.
probably didn't help you much, but it is somthing to think about, before
you chunk down the cash.

I love my 700 ADL in 30/06 since you already own one you know what a great rifle they are! I've heard other's say they(the model 7's) just don't fit a grown man like the 700's do; and that would bother me; try one for sure before you spend the $$$(as Darkcloud suggests) and make sure it's what you want. I wouldn't mind owning another 700(but I just don't need another rifle) [:(]

I have to agree with VinVega. Get a Winchester Model 70 and you will have what you really need. I have one in 7mm Mag. Super Grade that is exceptional! I love Remington for shotguns, but the Model 70 is the way to go for long guns.

Got a Model 7 and love it. Be sure you don't get the youth model by mistake. Had a 700 ADL before the model 7 that pegged the trigger weight scale at over 8 pounds.
I've shot the mod 7, 700, 70 and A-Bolt. I think the 700 has the better barrel. The 70 is a great rifle, but I really don't like the safety. Comparing just the 7 & 700, you won't go wrong with either, I've just seen more consistancy out of the 700 from bench rest shooters. All of the above rifles are great shooters and they will shoot a heck of a lot better than most folks can handle.
I watched a guy bust 6 eggs with 6 shoots at 300 yds with a 700 off the bench. Shooting a stock trigger and a 4x12x40 scope. That is Hellacious shooting!

I think some of it depends on where your going to be hunting. Model 7 is a little lighter and quicker to pull up and aim. If your packing and hunting the mountains I'd take a 7. IF weight doesn't make a difference then I'd lean towards the 700.
theck, are you close to Lexington? Why I was is I'll let you know about the next egg shoot. It is usually in Feb. You (or anyone else) is welcome to stop by. You'll see a bunch of different rifles and you can ask the folks about there pros/cons.
