I have a wood finish on my shotgun. I'll be using a shotgun sock over it. How can you keep the wood from being damaged from the moisture and temps, at least to a mininum?
I don't want another gun. any suggestions?

I'm not being a smart alex but if you use the gun to actually hunt I don't think it can be done. I just changed my favorite shotgun over to a fiberglass stock. If I trade it I'll switch it back to the wood.
Waterfowl hunting alone will ruin a wood stock.

Does anyone else own a woodstock shotgun? Have you had any problem with wood damage? what have you done to help?
Thanks, Mike

did my gun with camo-clad 3years ago havent had any damage yet.
About all you can do is keep it wiped down with oil. This helps keep the wood from drying out. As for humidity change? Not much you can do in your house except keep it in an area away from direct heat and light, also away from damp places. First rule to remember, if you hunt with it, it will get scratched.
