Scientist Implicates Worms in Global Warming
Jim Frederickson, the research director at the Composting Association has called for data on worms and composting to be re-examined after a German study found that worms produce greenhouse gases 290 times more potent than carbon dioxide.
Worms are being used commercially to compost organic material and is in preference to putting it into the landfill. The German government wants 45% of all waste to be composted by 2015.
"Everybody... thinks they can do no harm but they contribute to global warming. People are looking into alternative waste treatments but we have to make sure that we are not jumping from the frying pan into the fire," said Frederickson.

I would have to agree with this. As a hobbie and for extra farm income I used to raise those things. I guess I have a soft spot in my heart for them since I had to eat Worm Omelets in Survival school. Most times I kept about 3 million in the barn. I always had a fan running to keep the air moving. My barn was a tile block bldg (old chix house) 3 stories tall. It was full up on the bottom floor with beds. Interesting little creatures.
And all along I thought I was single handily responsible for Global Warming. Who would have thought:rolleyes:. I wonder if the dude will title his book "Global Worming".

I read an article this morning about a new theory for the warming. They recently discovered that our solar system was not born in the Milky Way galaxy but actually in a smaller, less energetic galaxy that is now being "eaten" by the Milky Way. As a result energy levels of all kind are increasing throughout the solar system, as has been documented. Just thought y'all might be interested.

Raising worms is fast becoming more popular in my area. I know several farmers who also raise worms for extra income. I would do it too if I had a building available.

It is alot of work. They multiply X 4 every 6 weeks. ;) I made more off the "castings" then I did off the Worms. Every greenhouse around bought that stuff. :D

Buy you are still a major contributor. Scientists are pleading for you to stop eating so much Taco Belle. :D

So as a solution to global warming, we all should go fishing?
