From China. Some of you may have seen articals in the Owensboro paper this past week on the trip.

She is a teacher in the Davis county school system and was selected to go on this trip along with some of the higher ups and a couple more teachers. All I can say is what she told me seems unreal but being a communist country it is in fact real.

Little things like after arrival not seeing the sun for 5 days due to the polution in the air. She said she didn't see the sun till the flight out got above the polution.

One time they were out on a tour of the country side and they got a call to return to thier hotel and they had 30 minutes to pack and leave. Not a reason gave just that they have to leave and leave now. After hours they found the reason, seems the lake the city they were visiting gets all thier water was checked and the polution was so bad they shut down all the water intake. A town she said of 5 million people and no water even to drink. She said the black market started jacking the price of drinking water higher and higher by the minute.

One thing that really disturbed her was in her entire visit to the schools she said she didn't see one handicapped kid and with a population as large as that country has there had to be some someplace.

Aren't the olympics gonna be there next summer? Seems like they have a lot of cleaning up to do in the coming year. With media from around the world, they won't be able to hide it all.

She said the water the people had to drink was poluted but there was two olympic size pool's and one diving pool near the town they stayed in. All were only used by the olympic athletes in training and the water was clear as gin.

She also said the towns were clean and well kept just the air quality and water problems were the major problems she seen.
