Does anybody know how or if you even can download videos from youtube? I found a funny video that I haven't seen in forever and want to download it and put it on a cd for a buddy who doesn't have internet back home.

I use this website (http://keepvid.com/)to download and save the YouTube video. It will convert the YouTube URL to a file you can save to your computer. IIRC every time you download a video file it tries to give it the same file name so make sure you rename your saved file if you plan to keep it. Otherwise once you get the hang of it it work really well.
ALSO - You will need the FLV Player to watch the saved file (free from the same page)

Here is another site (http://vixy.net/)that is useful for converting the audio portion of a YouTube video into a mp3 file (along with various other file types)

I've never had that problem (used the site as late as yesterday). I've saved videos that are 8 to 10 minutes long.
Perhaps these was a problem accessing the file on YouTubes server, much like when the video stops for a few seconds when you are watching it via streaming.
If you want to PM the YouTube URL I'll see if I can save it for you, then email it to you.
