Anyone know anything about the SKYY 9MM? I picked one up today at the gunshop and it feels pretty good in my hand. Has some plastic on it, but I think being compact and light weight, it would be great for my wife. The asking price is 320.00 out the door. I think the price is a little high, but it looks like a good solid piece. It comes in solid black or stainless/black. It is similiar in feel to the Sigma Series S&W 9MM that I own.

Don't know a thing about them but that does seem to be a steep asking price. Some guy from IN is selling them on gunbroker.com for 215-240 bucks.

There was a shop in Louisville that was going to be a dealer for them, I held one and it seemed nice, but quality is suspect. I would stick with Kel-tec.
I just picked up a PF-9 for $239 NIB at Whittakers. Nice gun for carry.
8 shot 9mm has a bit of recoil, since it is so light.

No prob. Yep the ones on gunbroker are new, but of course with shipping and FFL transfer you would add some dough to the IN guy's price. But still, MSRP on those guns is supposedly only 340. Your guy is giving you 20 bucks off full MSRP, and I've never saw a gun sell for anywhere near msrp...

Now this is just my opinion but if I were going to get a handgun for my wife I would stick with a .38 loaded with +P ammo. They are the most reliable and easy to use also easy to find in your price range.Good Luck

Well I took her to the shop today and we decieded on the Tarus385 38 revolver. Gonna cost a little less than 300 NIB out the door. Nice little piece for the money. I feel a lot safer w/ her carrying this little revolver than a semi. Just point and shoot. Has plenty of knock down power especially using the hot ammo. Going to go pick it up this weekend. It is gonna be a suprise. I told her we need to wait a few weeks ;).

I wish I was married to you. WAIT! Did I really say that?
Good choice on the Taurus. For a small defense-only gun I like a revolver every time. Point and shoot.
I don't know where you priced the gun but being from the Bowling Green area you need to check out Cheek Bros in Allen Co before you buy, if you haven't already. They usually have the best prices around.

Yeah....that worries me! I'm taking my ccdw next saturday and am going back home to find something smaller than the XD.45 to carry...other than Cheeks Bros. I don't know anybody here I would buy from after getting my xd from them. They were great to deal with.

How small you wanting to go? If pocket pistol, I'd suggest a Kel Tec in 380. Nice little guns and they make some good pocket holsters for them too.

haven't decided yet, I'm going to look at Whittakers and they have a ton on display to look at. I won't get it anytime soon, because I just got my AR lower and am getting ready to get a barrel and upper first.

My CCW class was pretty funny. There was a guy there, a nice fellow, but he shot with a big old six-shooter of some kind, straight out of a John Wayne movie, and couldn't even get on paper with it. He thought there was something wrong with it and turned around to holler at the instructor, and when he turned he swept the entire rest of the class with that thing, finger on the trigger. Me and another guy nearly hit the deck. Instructor corrected him real quick.
Couple of other guys brought in some sort of wild looking 22lr target pistols that looked like space guns, I guess they thought they were gonna impress the rest of us with their mad shooting skillz. Both of the space guns jammed on every single round, and neither of them shot very good.

He blamed his old hog-leg pistol, I dunno. Instructor loaned him a S&W model 10 and he managed to qualify with that. Funny how some guys want to take the test with curiosities - antiques, target whiz-bang pistols, etc.
To be fair, the fellow with the hog-leg may not have had anything else to shoot with. But I'm betting the Annie Oakleys could have brought something besides 22 target pistols. Don't be like those guys when you take the test, or some a-hole like me might be there and make fun of you behind your back. :D:D
