I heard every call the turkey makes today except the death growl! Knew I was in trouble when I started rattling antlers at 7AM and a gobbler sounded off. It can't be I said to myself so I hit the antlers again and he gobbled again. I called a little while on my deer stand and got an answer every now and then but nothing really exciting. Made a lost call with no reply ,but turned around in my stand 5 mins. later and get spotted by an entire flock. They snuck right in on me. Off some of them went and they started making all the calls you ever want to hear. Keekee run like I've never heard before. I mean 10 or 12 birds trying to out do the other. Others clucked, some purred, some putted, some cackled and yes some gobbled. I keekeed them and they came right back to me. Had one gobbler yelping, then gobbling, then yelping This went on for a good 10 minutes when three gobblers snuck along the fence and I let fly. Right over its back! Then the putted and flew, but only about 50 yards and they landed in trees and gobbled, yelped and keekeed all over again. It was then I looked over to see a shooter buck 60-70 yards out . He stopped to listen to the comotion, then slowly meandered the same way the turkeys went. Pretty good morning.

I'd say it was a good morning! Sorry you didn't put one in the freezer. The more I fall hunt, the more I come to understand why many oldtimers prefer it to spring. A morning like you had is just amazing, and I hope more of us get to experience one.

This morning wasn't as noisy as yesterday but enjoyable nonetheless. Seven different gobblers sounded off this morning. Eleven birds roosted close to me(some hens some gobblers) flew to what must have been the boss gobbler. The other six(all gobblers) stayed on my side of the creek. They gobbled a little, yelped more, clucked and purred. Three of them even strutted when the one bird that was not roosted with the other five strolled in. One bird in the group of five yelped the other gobbler right to them. They let me in on the yelping, but he wasn't interested in a turkey in a tree.
