I didn't realize until recently, but the fairgrounds has year round camping. If someone wanted to drive their RV up for a concert or KY Kingdom, it would be cheaper than a hotel room. Just an FYI.

RV Parking

The Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC) provides RV parking for events held throughout the year. The RV lot offers 20 or 30 amp electrical service, water, disposal station, restrooms, and showers.

Daily Rates (Electric): $45.00
Primitive (No Hookups): $25.00

NO TENTS ARE ALLOWED EXCEPT POP-UP TENTS ON WHEELS

Making an RV Parking Reservation:

Reservations can be made by sending a check or money order to:

Parking Admissions Office
Kentucky Exposition Center
P.O. Box 37130
Louisville, KY 40233

The check or money order should specify RV parking and state the event, dates, vehicle license number, and should be made payable to Kentucky Exposition Center.

Reservations can also be made by calling (502) 367-5384. KEC accepts MasterCard and Visa.

The deposit is one day's rental which includes 20 or 30 amp electrical service, water service, and use of the disposal station. There are restrooms and shower facilities located in the RV lot.

A confirmation card, information sheet and a map of the property will be sent after the deposit is received. Please bring the conformation card with you upon arrival.

Reservations will be accepted one year in advance. However, reservations should be received at least 14 days prior to date of actual arrival. Confirmed reservations will be held for the day of arrival only. The reservation deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.

I have to warn you that would NOT be a good place to camp ! Right under the flight path to UPS and the Louisville Airport ? NO sleep that night. I would also have to question the RV cheaper aspect with fuel reaching over $3 a gallon. IF the RV gets 5mpg and you drive 100 mi each way that's more than enough to buy breakfast at Cracker Barrel AND pay for a hotel room. Pop up tent on wheels ? I haven't seen one of those.

AHH yes , the great camping experience. OK well atleast there are plenty of ear plugs laying around in the KY Kingdom parking lot. You know the ones that say Marlboro, Winston, Merit, Kool,,,, :D

Thanks for clearin that up for me Ateup. I thought there was some new fangled tent out there that I haven't seen ? I'm older than dirt you know,,, just ask my kids. :D

OH and save you quarters too,,, the bed will automaticly vibrate when the planes go over.

Dang I forgot how much fun it could be !

I don't think the planes fly directly over that part of the fairgrounds. I believe they are more east and west of KFEC now. I live over that way and they don't fly over our place.

The UPS planes fly in from the south. They fly directly over my house so low that the airport bought my entire subdivision due to the noise levels. Strange thing is you actually get used to the noise and don't really notice it after a while.

BTW, I never knew there was camping at the KFEC. We have season football tickets for U of L and park there and walk over to the stadium. There are always some RV's parked there with people tailgating, but I don't know if they are camping or not.

The planes fly in from every direction. It depends on which way the wind is blowing. They have to land and take off into the wind. IF there is no wind then it depends on air traffic. The reason they do not go directly over the park is due to the runway layout with north/south and east/west. When the wind is out of a south direction they will land comming in directly over the east side of KFEC. ;)

C.L., I am not trying to dispute what you say, but in nine years of living in this house, there is only one time that planes didn't fly directly over my house. That was after 9/11. Now it could be that there flight path takes them around and to an east/west flight plan, but they are always flying over my house.

A few years ago when President Bush flew here and met with the Valley Sports Little League team, Air Force One flew so low over my house that My wife and I could read the tail fin numbers.
