I personally only got 1 tom and saw 2 the last day I hunted. Had 6 other times toms were coming in only to have hens cut me off. I did hear gobbles somewhere around me every day whether it be on the farm I hunted or a neighboring farm. I saw hens at least once every trip even called some to me within 10 yards. We all experience good and bad years, overall I would say this was good. Even though I only got 1 I did hear them so I know they're around. I never once saw a jake which is unusual. But where I hunted for 12 days My brother-in-law has called and told me the last 3 days straight 10-12 hens and 5 toms have been in the field right where my blind was at. Turkeys do alot of traveling I know, just wish they could of come through sooner but oh well. Yes I agree the weather had a major role in this years hunt, it even messed up the fishing. Even if you didn't tag out or even get a bird you got to admit you still got a rush from just hunting didn't you. It's not about the kills but the fact you can hunt and just plain enjoy life. Yes we get lucky from time to time and harvest an animal but if we all done this then the numbers would really go down or have a stunted crop. I'm glad nature takes care of things the way it does, who knows maybe next year will be a record harvest. Hunt and fish as much as you can while you can, life's to short, take the young'uns out get them interested and pass it on. Good luck to all and God Bless.
