How many people on here have not killed a gobbler with more than one beard? I myself have never killed one with more than one beard. This year on both my turkeys I checked them over real good for a second beard, figured if I looked real hard another one would sprout out. Theres always next year to hope for a multiple bearded bird.

Close this year. When I shot my first Tom it looked as if he had two beards but when I looked real close they were connected right at the skin.

There is one farm I hunt on where I have killed 3 with double beards. Also 2 others were shot there that had double beards as well. Must be genetics at work there. The last one I shot was about 4-5 years ago. I have not seen one there since. Biggest had two 12"beards, it was my first turkey ever.

I have bagged 60 plus birds & not one multiple bearded bird yet. Perhaps early in my carear a bird may have had a extra beard & i just didn't kno to look. Oh well, maybe one of these days.

Genetics have to be a major part of turkeys having multiple beards. Last year I shot a jake with two beards, one was 5-1/2" and one was 3". This year I shot a tom in the same general area with seven beards. Also several years ago my brother shot a tom with two beards. I sure hope the multiple beard streak continues, these are the last three birds that have been killed on our place. Prior to my brothers double bearded bird, none of the turkeys killed had double beards. My father has killed four toms and two jakes but all only had single beards

When you see a multi beard turkey you can usually tell that it more than one beard. I have been lucky enough to take 2.

One year my dad killed a double bearded Rio in Oklahoma with two 10"+ beards. The same year I had been watching a bird strut on a powerline on public land for weeks. Due to my last year of college and my class obligations I couldn't get out to hunt him. I gave him to my older brother and he killed him one evening at 6:30pm, right on time. He had two 10"+ beards. My chance didn't take long, I killed a nice double beard last year. I'll try to get pics. Dad had his Rio mounted.

I've killed 3 double and 1 triple. One of the doubles was this year and he had another double with him. I think its genitics too. I've got two farms about 1 mile apart that we've killed some off of and see them every year. Then there is another farm that has got several bearded hens. Was seven in one flock back in the winter. And yes we are sure they're hens and not jakes, LOL. One of these days I'm gonna break down and shoot one of them.
