Is that a typo? 44 pounds? I shot a 27 lb 8oz bird and that would be 12 in the state by weight if registered on KentuckyNWTF. If it truly is 44 pounds that is not only a state record but also a world record by weight! Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's impossible. Congrats. The world record beard length is probably going to be the guy in Texas who shot one with a 22.5 inch beard.

I almost shot one that was standing looking over a woven wire fence with two strands of barb wire on top. When I realized it was a turkey, I was scared @#@#less. I was afraid to shoot it at 40 yrds with my Remington 870 and Hevi-shot, #5's. Didn't think that I had enough fire power.;)

I estimated him to weight over 50 lbs.

Willie, your score is incorrect. Jarheads score on your bird is correct. You get to count the score for both beards combined.

Both birds I killed this year scored 74.875 and 69.875 respectively. My biggest bird overall to date was as follows:

Species: Eastern (A-Typical)
Harvest Date: Apr 22, 2006

Number of Beards: 2
Longest Spur: 1.5000" #1*
Other Spur: 1.5000"
Weight: 23.5000 lbs. #3*

:D 12 lbs. 13 oz. , 4.5 inch beard, 1/4 in spurs

The only bird I got this year, and without a doubt the smallest I have ever taken!

Am I wrong or shouldn't this turkey score 92.5. Willie this is an awsome turkey!!! Congrats!!! Jarhead.

You are correct if I was scoring it as a "non-typical".

I was scoring it as a "typical" because of the contest it was in at www.hunting-indiana.com. To level the playing field we did not allow a "non-typical" score, just typical.

92.5 does sound better than 72.5 doesn't it? ;)

. . .and nobody's congratulated Redfeather on his bird w/ a recurve no less. 24.5 lb, triple-bearded toms don't come along too often.

Congrats to both Willie and Redfeathers.
