Just wondering yalls opinion on the two.I'm looking to get one in a few days.I have experience with a Glock and love alot of things about them but mine a .357 sig kicked like a mule.I could get a snub nose .357 mag. back on target quicker so i got rid of it.
The caliber is a non-issue as if i get a Glock it will be the Model 19 Homeland defender model in 9x19,a Sig would be the 220 Elite .45 .
Either will be a truck gun,the Glock may be a carry gun but i doubt it.Price difference is about 250.00.

Totally biased here but I love the Glocks. The 19 is a sweet gun too. If you are considering a 45, the Glock 21 is a nice one, with easy recoil. Some people love em, some hate em, but they are great guns.

I have been interested in the 21,never shot one just figured if the 357Sig barked so bad (full size) that the .45 would be tough to handle.
That said i'm a .45 guy and generally anti-9mm with my current stable having a Kimber and a Springfield i figure one 9 couldn't hurt, maybe for my wife (;) ).
The money difference between a night sighted 21 and a p220 Elite is huge.Maybe i'll have to shoot one

Definitely try out a G21 if you can. Its a big gun and its recoil is more of a "push" than a sharp jump. Only thing about a G21 is it is unforgiving of limp-wristing and will stovepipe if you limp-wrist. But with good technique, it is accurate, reliable as heck, and a lot of fun to shoot.

The Sig is the way to go. I have owned both. The glock is nice but will jam ever now and then. I put thousands of rounds through the Sig and only had one jam and it was my fault.

I would prefer the Glock simply because I like its trigger better and the things are just plain tough when it comes to rough handling and just cleaning it whenever you get around to it. The Sigs feel nice in the hand, but for some reason the triggers just feel a bit odd to me, I guess that's just one of those personal prefernce things.
As for the recoil of the 45, I find it more controllable than a 40 or 357 Sig. Due to the slide velocity of the 40 and 357 cartridges, they have a rather sharp "snap" to the recoil. The 45 may not actually have less recoil, but the less snappy feel makes it easier for me to control.
Just one caveat to a Glock in 45 ACP though. The standard model 21 grip is large and unless you have large hands, it may be too big to be comfortable. However, Glock is now producing a 21SF (slim frame), that while still larger than the 9mm-40-357-45GAP frame, it is a bit smaller than the original 21. Glock hasn't put it on their website yet, but the guns are already being shipped to some dealers.

I have a Glock 21 and think it is a bit thick in the grip. I like the feel of the XD .45 better. My favorite Glock is the 19. Nice size and good round capacity.
As far as Sig goes I like the 220 if you are looking for a full sized gun, but would rather carry a 228 or 229. My 228 (9mm) has great balance and is a bit more compact than the 226. My brother has the 229 in .40 and it is fun to shoot and is very accurate.
The triggers are night and day different on Sigs and Glocks. I prefer the Sig since most have a decocker. If you decide to go Sig you might look for the Certified Preowned ones around $500.

So is the grip angle.
Everyone compares the Sig and Glock but to me its like comparing a 1911 to a Luger.
Both are good guns so get the one that comes up and shoots natural for you. You wont be using the sights in a self defense situation.
I like a Sig but the grip angle is all wrong for me, I feel the same way about the 1911.

I went to a defensive pistol class a few years back. A buddy and I took Glock 19's. I ended up buying another one after the class.
The class consisted of probably 60% Glocks the rest a mix of Sig, Colt, H&K, Ruger, etc. EVERY other manufacturer had atleast one problem except the Glock. NOT A SINGLE malfunction with any of the Glocks. There were about 30 people in the class. The H&K was the worst. It failed to the point it would shoot, would come off of safety, wouldn't dum the magazine, etc. All the pther malfunctions were quickly handled by the on-site armorer. BUT if my life depends on it, I don't have an armorer handy so Glock it is.
Oh yeah, it was about 1600 round in 2.5 days of shooting. My first 19 has about 7500 rounds thru it and has not had a single problem. My second one I bought used and haven't had a single problem either.

Granted, Glocks are very durable and simple to work on. Having owned several I prefer my 226 or my 220 super match over any glock I have ever owned.

I have carried both on duty and enjoyed both of them. If I had to buy one, I would go with the glock. Just my 2 cents worth:D

In my opinion, go with the Sig...they have exposed hammers..which I prefer..blb
