Really interesting show on Tim Farmer, his job, his accident, and how he has adapted.

I don't know anything about TV production but this show always seems to flow so smoothly that its half-hour is up before you know it. I would think that is what producers strive for.

Also had a report that old firebug CSS Archer had been busy burning the bushes. Any truth to that, CSS?;)

Thats what I was thinking. I shoot my bow with that guy that shoots with his teeth like Tim Farmer. He's from around the NKY area. He's a real nice guy.

Yes i agree that the 30minutes pass way to fast, guess KELIBERALTv just has way to much other BBC news to cover.

Tim Farmer is a MAN among hunters,he never ceases to amaze me.My kids feel the same way,he is a true role model.

He is definitely a true role model for the youth of Kentucky. I just wish his shows were an hour long!

Maybe we could press Ket this way?I'M IN

KET doesn't produce the show; they just broadcast it. KDFWR and its staff produce it. Getting it more than weekly would run the boys ragged.

When I taped those cooking shows with him we talked a bit about what it took to do that show. They shoot about 4 to 6 hrs to get that 30 minutes. Some subjects like W.Ky hunts take more than a day to film. Then there is another 1 or 2 days for Bama to edit. Not an easy job, Farmer and those guys make it look easy. They are all a great bunch and they can flat eat a truck load of groceries. I too would love to see their show go to 1 hour. Maybe we should all do a call in to KET and tell them.:D

Be careful what you wish for. Would a 1 hr show with 30 minutes of filler crap be as enjoyable as the quality 30 minutes we get currently? I think they do 30 because they know that is as much as they can produce weekly and still be a quality show.

I'll take the single 30 minute show and be satisfied. I don't always get to watch it but it is the only show on all of TV that I make a mental note to sit down and make time for. They've hit on the right formula of content, personality and scope, that's for sure.

I'm pretty sure that the 30 minute show is really only 22 minutes when you take out the commercials. :D

It's on after the credits at the end of each show . You can call in and give your opinion. OR I guess you could just call KET ? Don't know if they are in Lex, Lou, or Frankfort ? I'll try to find out the number. ;)

You're right, it's 22 minutes of content and 8 minutes of commercials, but at least the commercials aren't selling me the latest gimmick or gadget. The commercials are advertising Kentucky and her natural resources, so it isn't really like a commercial break at all.

A terrible thought just crossed my mind; what if they start selling ad time on Kentucky Afield? What if we get barraged by all the grinning idiots telling us to use this rifle, throw that buzzbait, scratch this new turkey call? What if Tim Farmer can't walk into the woods without assistance because of all the endorsed products he's packing?

That sounds like a nightmare scenario.

I agree, I didn't mean it to sound like a network commercial deal. Knowing those guys and their love of keeping it "true" to the state's outdoors and it's fan base I can't see TF EVER selling out to the gadget pushing product guys. The staff all have high standards of quality in programming and going out for special interests money isn't their style. I know that he has some support from a few MFG's but he does not flaunt or push those on the show. I think the sponsors are just in the credits or if one of his guest's mentions them. I did ask them about that when we taped. I have Purnell's make all my Italian Sausage and wanted to plug them. He said that was ok if it was just used in a sentence and not holding up their package showing the camera.
I think they could easily do a 1 hr show. It might change their editing criteria, but growth for them would be a good thing. I will be talking to them soon and will ask a question about it.

C.L.,
Maybe they could do an occasional one hour special on a topic. "Exploring Land Between the Lakes", or "Floating the Kentucky River". See what they think about that.

And please pass on how much their show is appreciated. It really is the only outdoors show I'll watch.

502-564-7109. there is little doubt Tim and his film/editing crews do a wonderful job. i have known Tim for many years and he always strives to do better on each show. he has a drive that would put most of us in the hospital. he works very hard as does the crew. Tim is an amazing man, and is a very good role model for the youngsters. he does love his job, as would anyone in that position, but do not be lulled into thinking it is easy.

Frankfort, Ky. – “Kentucky Afield” host Tim Farmer jumps at the chance to add skydiving to his list of feats, but it will cost him. In exchange for high flying thrills with the Golden Knights, the U.S. Army Parachute Team, Farmer and Tandem Jump Master, Sgt. Joe Jones, drop in on a few fish in Meade County. It’s not uncommon for Farmer to have his head in the clouds, but this time, he takes a video camera with him. The feature airs this weekend, May 12 and 13, on the “Kentucky Afield” television program.
