It's a passing fad.. Remember back in the early-mid 90's when the big deal was the little 10-12" deep dish wheels that stuck out the sides on little maximas? Made the car look like a skateboard...
I was in a tire shop recently and saw one of those big rims for sale... Had a price on it of $2000!!!! I asked the guy if it was for the whole set, and he told me it was PER RIM!!

Hey, I've actually seen where they can be rented by the week or month for your ride....Believe me I can bet there are a lot of them rented here in Louisville, KY for sure.....Same thing about the little small sided wheels for the cars as well........

That style is, anyway (I guess in ebonics). Some say named after the larger than life guy in the Crocodile Dundee movies and some say because the old Impala emblems looked like a donkey. Who knows.

A pimped out Caprice on a 4X4 frame. Good Grief.
We've had a 4x4 Buick station wagon and even a Dodge Colt sitting on a Bronco frame around here for years. They were a little shy on the bling, however.

Nope those aren't 4x4 frames! Yeah they are called donks. Aren't they sweet...I'm wanting to trade my new fx4 in on one...I'd probably get the car and 16k back!! NOT!! Those freaking things are everywhere in Bowling Green!! There are places that let you rent rims too! It seems like a good investment right...buy a $200 monte or caprice classic, $7000 rims, $3000 stereo...and later on it gets stolen or seized in a drug bust. Don't forget the ones with semi truck airhorns under the bumpers....hahaha:D :D

Looks like they'd be a little tippy in the corners. Just goes to show that while some gearheads can go from 0-60 in three seconds, others can go from zero to stupid in about the same time.

A white guy puts a mustang, camaro, or El camino on a 4X4 frame, hes a redneck. But a back guy puts a 5K+ set of 3ft rims on a $500 car, hes cool and started something everyone wants? go figure
