Monday hunted at knox and heard by far the most gobbling for the season. I killed a tom at 6:50 who was love sick and looking for some hens. 19lbs 9 1/4in beard and 1 1/4 spurs. When I shot him 2 other toms came in gobbling there heads off.

They're nesting here. I bumped a hen up in the same spot 3 times the past few days so I know she's on a nest. Gonna have to travel a different route next time since I hate disturbing her so much. Not much gobbling
going on lately though.

Well at least I'm not the only one who seems not to have connected yet.;) Hope your luck, and mine, changes soon. I had my chance opening morning. Had a bird sneak in to 10 yards before I seen him. I didn't expect him to come around from the right side. He busted me before I had a chance. If I'd had my cheek down on my gun more, I'd have gotten him. Live and learn!

I've been hunting Metcalfe this season, yesterday was my last day. I've seen hens every morning go to toms and again in the afternoons. They cut me off every single time I even got close. Even called hens to me which at the same time had a bird working then they would go to him and cut me off. I did notice something yesterday afternoon, Two toms had hens with them and would strut a little then just walk away from the hens as if they weren't all that interested.

A buddy jumped 2 hens at Peabody with 12 eggs apiece earlier this week. No doubt they r incubating.

I noticed a big change last sunday in my area. I killed my 2nd Tom of the year. I shot an Old Tom that had been henned up since the start of the season. He weighed 25 1/2 pounds and had 4 beards. One was 10 7/8", 2 were 8 1/2" and one was 7 3/4". I got out of the truck at 4pm and was back on the road by 5 pm. The hen sightings have been few this past week and have seen alot of loaner toms in the fields. This is a pretty good indicator that the hens are sitting there nests. My first tom was 20 1/2 lbs with a 9" beard and 1" spurs. Its been a good year, I hate to see it end.
