Perry, I'm gonna start a different thread to comment on your statement of "Buy American" in another post. I just got hammered with big repairs on an American Auto brands and much sooner than I expected. I bought 2 brand new American vehicles and both needed new transmissions at just over 100,000 miles (out of warranty). Yea, I change the fluid as recommended. Years ago we started making em better, but I ain't forsure now that the miles get packed on.
What brand vehicle have you folks had last the longest without MAJOR trouble (trans, engine, the big stuff)??????????
Of the last 4 “new” cars and trucks I've purchased they have always had some major problems between 100K and 120K miles, except for one-- a Japanese car -- it had 180K on it when I sold it and was going strong. Now two transmissions in 2 months broke our back and I can't afford that, if that is what it takes to buy American -- I'm getting a Toyota next time. I don't know about you guys but I don't keep $4K lying around the house. Hope I don't offend any American Auto workers, but I think the engineers design them to start having major trouble so we buy new every 5 years. I'm probably wrong, but everyone I know with a Toyota truck ran it more miles than that without major failures.
What has lasted you the longest:
Ford, Chevy, Toyota or Nissan?????????
