I don't know about the entire state, but the the hatch here in southcentral Ky was excellent. I've seen more jakes during youth season, scouting, and opening weekend than I have in 20+ years of hunting. I hope hunters across the state are seeing the same.

I noticed the same thing. There were three of us hunting in Butler Co. this weekend we all killed birds, the other 2 guys killed jakes. One of the guys shot the last bird in a flock of 10 roaming jakes. I saw 5 different jakes together on the same farm.

I wimped out because the weather but scouted some and saw several groups or jakes 5 -8 birds each. Last year I saw 2 jakes all spring. Congrats on your bowkill Mike!

Yep, same here. My son and I saw 7 jakes together and he took one of them during youth season. Seems to be several which should make it fun next year!!!!

Have been seeing bunches of jakes in Warren County.

Saw no jakes and 12 gobblers in Cumberland county. Also, cumberland county has absolutely no leaves on the trees.
