On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being that you wanted to but didn't get to go) how would you rate your opening weekend in Kentucky?

I rated a 4. The weather brought the score down drastically. I didn't score, but I did see 10 birds saturday morning, including 2 nice toms to be excited about. I'm hoping to lay one down in about 3 hours. :D

I'm one of those that didn't go.

Being retired gives me that choice,.

Now that the wind and rain has died down I'm headed out this morning.

Good luck to all and BE SAFE.

i gave mine a 2, didnt think i was going to get to go on sat. but things changed and i was able to get in the woods at 10 am , didnt take a bird but did see 3 .
then sunday i was in the woods before first light and had 15 birds around me could have shot a jake but passed. sat there untill i was way to wet and cold and the birds had moved on so i got up and moved a couple hundred yards made a call and had 1 gobbler fire up ,but the hens cut him off on his way in . so i gave up for the day and thought i would wait untill this morning but when i came in i got a phone call telling me i had to start school for my new job this morning and wouldnt you know it it lasts 3 weeks......looks like i will be doing alot of evening hunts this season....

the best of luck to you all, and stay safe.........jeff

10!!!! Got my first bird Sat. afternoon after hunting all morning in the cold rain and seeing several birds that were happy to stay put where they were with their hens. Finally got one when they all made a flat out run right at me after 3 hours of sitting in one position within 60-70 yards of the gobbler and a hen 20 yards from me! Quite possibly the best hunt I've ever had.

Sure is rough on the back and neck though to sit completely still for that long. I'd have stayed for 2 more hours if I had to though.

I gave it a six. The weather was awful, but I saw birds on Saturday and heard several gobbles. It was still better than work!!

I rated 8 because I had bird on me just got BUSTED... That sucked. I admit it was cold and wet but the GORE-TEX was the key that day.

No matter how bad you think your day went it could have been worse. Many did not get to go at all and will not be able to. I just had back surgery # 5 so this year is out for me but I feel lucky that there will be next year. But there are many that will never be able to ever go again for various reasons. We are all very lucky, good luck to you all and have a a great season.

called one in for my hunting partner opening day..
didnt see or hear another bird after that.
sat in the cold rain all day (in a blind that leaked)
pretty miserable stuff..
both days only a few birds were vocal right at fly down, but shut up with in an hour..

sunday was about as bad, heard 2-3 birds kinda far off, only vocal for maybe an hour, the cold wind was brutal..
i dressed for rain, no problem.. but wasnt dressed for the cold 25mph wind..
called it early on sunday..

this next weekend should be much better..
60's and 70's forecasted..

I say a 5. I didn't go Sat. but Sun. was pretty good. Didn't hear any gobbles but I called in 5 jakes to 15 feet. Then at 8:30 I had a long beard sneak in 60 yards from me as I was changing mouth calls. I think he never really saw me but was a little nervous and walked off. I also had a hawk dive bomb my decoys twice before I scared it away. I didn't think talons and inflatable decoys where a good mix.

I gave it a 6. I saw plenty of birds and finally got 2 within range of my bow and I guessed the distance wrong. It would have been much better if not for the weather or the missed shot.

State wide this is the worst opening weekend we have had since I have been hunting. Even if you were lucky enough to get a bird there is noway you enjoyed the weather unless your just mental..I was out there saturday but it sure was brutal.....I voted for 2 and but if there was a -2 I would have voted for it. Glad some guys got some birds I am looking forward to mid 60's and a clear sky tomorrow morning... GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE!!!!!!!!!!Lets shoot something in the face.

I only went Saturday and ended up COLD & WET. Now I have a cold so I didn't hunt Sunday or my day off today my body ached all over. Not a very good start to my turkey season.
