Another not so good day. Got set up before first light after walking thru the snow flying in the blind one ridge behind the house, The snow changed to rain just after sunrise and I did hear one gobble a distance away. Heard someone fire of six...yes six shots in rapid succession about a quarter mile away. I hung in there till the wind started picking up and rocking the blind side to side and with no birds sighted gave up for the time being and came back to the house. The wind is still rocking and rolling out there now to the point hearing anything is out of the question unless it is in your lap. Better days ahead this next week or so I have been told.

Rather windy and a bit of snow in Todd County too (Snow on April 15!). A few gobbles around 7:00 am, 3 hens that just happened to be in my area. Also saw a large contingent (10-12 birds) in the field on the way out.
Always helps to see a few birds, sure makes me anxious to get out and try again.

first set up, squat.:( no gobbles, no yelps, squat. saw one hen as I was walking out. she was hunkered under a tree trying to get out of the snow/drizzle. drove around to glass a couple more farms, saw one more hen. came back home and walked out ridge behind house, called, gobble, good ways off. called again, he gobbled again, little closer:D figured he wouldn't cross the raging river between us (normally 3 inches deep, 3 feet wide, not today) so I headed down hill to try to get to it before he did. never heard another sound. not sure if he was headed towards me as fast as I was headed towards him and I got busted, or if he just didn't care:cool: .

To windy for me, I thought it was going to tear my blind to shreads. I didn't know them blinds could block that much wind, but when me and my buddy got out to start to pack it in, we both realized how cold it was. We heard birds gobbling all around us but i guess they wanted to stay out of the fields and out of the wind.

I hate it when a bird gives you a courtesy gobble and you walk a mile to set up and he never says another word!
