Got to the farm this morning, and had birds fly down in front of us before we could even get set up or put decoys out. So we watched them walk over a hill in the field we were hunting, and decided to cut them off. We got set up and I started calling the birds in from about 100-125 yards away. I was calling in a gobbler with about a 7-8 inch beard for my father, and he got about 60 yards away, and this guy comes walking out of the woods. He sits down, oblivious to the fact that there is a gobbler not 50 yards away from him. Needles to say he spooked the bird and it took off flying. Come to find out it was my uncle who owns the farms nephew, who NEVER hunts turkeys there. So he pretty much screwed our hunt for the morning. I'll have to tell ya though, my heart was pumping when I saw that beard! It would have been the first turkey my Father has ever killed. Oh well, better luck tomorrow!;)

My son hunted from a blind this morning and got a shot at a jake with his bow (Browning Micro Midas). He missed, but he was still pretty excited about his hunt.
He did better than me. I didn't even get out in the rain/snow this morning...

Hate to hear about the spoiled hunt. But IMO, you should be thankful as well. Lack of communication between hunters, or just not knowing another hunter is there is how accidents happen.

It did scare me a bit with the guy coming in so close and never seeing us. i never saw the guy until my father pointed him out. My dad saw him sneaking in, but was focused on the tom I was working. These guys cam in about 6:45-7:00, well after we got there, so there was no way we could have known they were there. Their hunting, even during deer season is spearatic at best, so I never know when they will be up there. We really need a better method of knowing when and where the other will be hunting.:o
