I will have a 466 cubic inch engine in it, that is the same as my old engine except it has trick flow aluminum street heads. My old heads were the dove- c if you are familar with big block fords, they came in lincolns etc, they were a notch under the police interceptor head and 2 notches below the cobra jet head. The old engine ran a best of 5.68 @ 118 mph in the 1/8 mile this one should run 5.40 @ 121 - 123 mph.

probably the most consistant cars there are the stringer bros. from somerset.they both run old camaro's and both runlow 4:30's and an occasional 20,real fast cars but i know it takes a pension to run that fast.

pension is right ;) . I have got around $7,500 just in my cylinder heads for my big motor. It takes big bucks to put a door car in the 4.30's.

Give me a yell sometime when you're racing and I'll pit crew (or at least look like I am :D). I haven't been to any drags in a long time.
My uncle used to run a '69 Camaro (among others) when I was a kid. We used to go to Beech Bend all of the time.

And Ashley too! :D
A friend of mine that lives down the road is Ashley's super charger guy. He went to that hot rod school down in texas and got a job at JFR. He also raises and lowers her car body. He said that is about like looking down the barrel of a shot gun , because if the body hits the throttle linkage on the way down that 8000 hp is going to be all over you. I had never thought about that  .

I am not 100% sure Duster. I went to their website it did not identify them as owners , but the names were Phillip and Jessica Oakley and David and Kathy Pruden.

I haven't been to windy in a few years. It was sold about 3 or 4 years ago I heard but never heard who bought it. It went way down hill the past couple years. The track wasn't taken care of. Every time my friends went down the track they couldn't hook, b/c there wasn't any compound in spots. Hopefully it has gotten better. You taking the stang to St.Louis or NMRA finals in BG this fall? If you see people sitting in the field to the left of the track as you are going down, its me and some friends, my friends family owns that farm.

I haven't talked with him in several years but at one time Dallas Jones owned either the entire place or part of it. You may know the name due to the fact he now owns Beech Bend. At one time he was involved in three tracks, Beech bend, Windy Hollow and One in Clarksville , Tn. I spent many a night as a teen working on his cars doing whatever was needed that a kid could handle. His garage was next door to my grandparents house.
The cars all were named the same...Brief Encounter... except one chevy vega that got rolled on its first trip down the track at Clarksville...:(

The name does not ring a bell..sorry...remember I am talking about the mid to late 60's and sometimes my mind don't go back that far...LOL.

Duster, I have heard the name , but I have only raced one time at Beech bend. I have raced several times at Clarksville. It used to be a really good hooking track and it was not too bad last spring. I drove a supercharged 5.0 mustang on little tires down it. I usually race at Northwest Tennessee Motorsports sports park in Gleason Tenn. There are so many tracks in that vicinity I believe they are hurting each others car count. There is a track in Dyersburg and Jackson also.

Hopefully they still have the finals in BG. They last few years have really been good! It has gotten so big though that there are talks of taking it somewhere else that can handle the croud. So many people complained about having to wait in line down the road to get in, I didn't mind it cause the races were great. I haven't had a chance to go to St. Louis event but my friends have told me it is HUGE!! I think it is sometime in May. For the finals at Beech Bend there are usually a few local cars.

Yes. He also owned that Corvette show that was at BG in June every year. Spent alot of years doing that deal. That was in the 80's and early 90's. Back in the day we used to go to Cedar Creek drags out in Fern Creek. Man that was a loooooong time ago. Mid 60's. :D

Best Corvette I ever seen that ever showed up at Beech Bend came out of Radcliff Ky. A AA/alt painted like a bullfrog and it even hopped like one when stageing. The WILD FROG was the name...:D... I wanted bad to get my Cuda painted like it but the wife said no way...:D

Are the Greenfields still involved at that track ?? Doug and Pappy Greenfield were the owners at one time but I am sure Pappy is long gone by now. He was in his 70's and still driveing races in the early 70's. Two nice fellows.

I've got a buddy that does a lot of drag racing. I haven't been in a while. I used to go with him quite a bit. He, too, is a Mustange guy. He runs a turbo'd coupe, runs low 7's in the 1/4 . If you're around the Ford events, youve probably seen him. His name is Shannon Renfro. He owns a body shop here in Richmond. That car is unbelieveable.
Good luck at the races. It's a blast to go and help/watch.
