I was shooting my muzzleloader through my chrony the other day and with a 295gr powerbelt with 80 grains of loose pyrodex. Muzzle velocity is about 1350fps. Is this sufficent for deer hunting or should I bump the charge up the get it moving a little better.
Accuracy is number 1.
With that said, IMO, this is a 100 yd load MAX.
If your shots are short, then you are fine.
You have approx. 1200ft/lbs at the muzzle and about 800 at 100+yds .
If you are accurate with a 100 grain load, then I would do that.

Thanks for the info.
I should have included this in my first post.
You can download FOR FREE a ballistic program called PointBlank.
It is a handy program, does not have all of the bells and whistles
of the store bought stuff, BUT the price is right!
