Am I wasting my time this weekend if it is storming? What should I do different? I don't mind getting wet unless I am just wasting my time. I saw just as many deer this year when it was raining, are turkeys any different?
Thanks, John

I love to hunt thunderstorms. Many times the thunder makes them "shock gobble" and I set up in fields adjacent to roosting areas. Birds often hit the fields after rain to dry their feathers. They also don't like to be in the woods (can't hear well) because water is still dripping from trees. Go to the fields after rain.:D

me and dad have killed numorus birds in the rain but i would hunt fields log roads, benches, open woods, clear cuts, big ridges but the birds feel saver in the fields i have a pop up blind that i like to set up in and just wait for the scouting i did to come to good use because if you see a bird in the felds on a clear day during rain he will also visit that field during the rain they feel safer in the feilds because they cant see or hear nearly as well in the rain in the woods but i aint goina let a little rain keep me out of the turkey woods:D

If it is raining they will be in a field, never the one I am waiting in, but in a field none the less.

I like to hunt, period. Some of my best hunts have been during a rainy day. However, if it is thundering and lightening, I'm heading home. Yes I have had them "shock gobble" from thunder. It actually helped me one time penpoint where he was. But, holding on to a big metal rod (Shotgun) while it is lightening outside probably isn't the smartest thing to do.
