Looks to me like one either suffering from rabies or maybe got bounced off of a Michelin as he was trying to make it across the road.

My money is on a squirrel that wasn't much longer for the world, but not intoxicated.

The first thing I thought was rabies. I sure wouldn't want to get near him.

Wasnt a few years ago, we had one acting like that down town. A little girl found it in their outdoor shed, picked it up and was bitten. I ended up killing the squirrel and testing it for rabies...but nope....Vet said it was likely some type of brain disease that squirrels can get or it was injured by a car, etc. pretty sad, really. Although rabies ain't impossible in a squirrel, to my knowledge, we've never found one with it in KY.
