I've been a season ticket holder since the Cats moved from Memorial to Rupp. I can't say I'm pleased or displeased with the new coach. Sorta indifferent. If he can land a couple of McDonald's All Americans, I think I'll be pleased. If not, my season tickets for 07-08 are officially for sale.

If he lands either, I will be pleasantly surprised. Kinda harsh to expect him to get them when the deadline is Tuesday and he is hired on the previous Friday.

What about the #2 big man that was supposed to go to A&M? Who is he? Can he come with Billy?

Let's hope that Texas A&M releases the letter of intent from Deandre Jordan, he is a stud, seen him play tonight on CSTV in a High School All-American game. If he can get him and Lucas we will be way ahead of our expectations!

Tuesday is not the deadline. That is the earliest signing date. Any recruit can wait, they don't have to sign by Tuesday.
Jordan is staying at A&M
If you want the tickets, PM me.

I don't believe Texas A & M will let thier prized recruits get out of their letters. But sometimes stranger things have happened...Like releasing kids because a coach is gone now from the school they signed to play at. Now if A & M isn't too mad at Gillispie, they might let all the recruits go......
But I too believe Patterson is now a Gator for sure.....:D
Heck he could become a Hoosier and it wouldn't bother me in the least.....:D:D:D
Patterson and Lucas sure would be sweet lands. Its certainly not out of the question that we'll land at least one of them. We did land AJ Stewart already who might be a contributer.

Ok Snood,
Just to make it easy on you, you couldn't sell me those UK tickets if you had to....Now on the other hand since I'm not a UK fan, you could just give them to me and we would both be happy campers...See you would be rid of them and not have to worry about fighting the crowds and traffic associated with the games. I on the other hand would take the tickets and put them in a dresser drawer and leave them there. That way Uk could never say they were at capacity in attendence at home games...Because there would always be two or more seats that would always be empty....... See how devilish I could become, peeps would be fighting over those two or more seats every home game....No one could sit in them because the owners of the seats might just show up ( not ).......
Oh how Hoosier's can come up with mean plans for the Uk faithful, once the old rivalry gets going again..... I miss the Old days, maybe now your Cats will get their Sh*t together and start winning again.....lol:D

I'd say neither. Also, Schools have the option of releasing a player, but not to certain schools. They might release their bigman but on the stipulation that he can't sign with UK.

Why not have it where he can't sign anywhere in conference or in state??That would make more sense to me.

A lot of schools do that. A coach leaving can be detrimental to a program. You lose your coach and he takes a couple players and a couple more recruits and your program might be set back a decade. It should just be common courtesy that you don't take your recruits with you and leave your ex-school barren.

Thats not correct. When a school releases a player from their Letter Of Intent, they can not include any stipulations.
The only thing they can do is not release a player from his LOI. If the player is not released, and chooses to still leave, he has to sit out a year, and pay his way.

Pay his way for the rest of his college career or just the next year??

Then how do most conferences have a "No in-conference transfer rule"?

Transfering and letting someone out of a LOI are totally seperate. And the no in conference rule is a conference rule, not an individual school rule.
The only reason I know this, is because it was just discussed on another board. And one of the posters attached an actual LOI. I would say you could google LOI, and get an actual LOI.
Alot of people think that a coaching change means schools must release players from LOI. But it clearly states in the LOI that this agreement is between the player and the school, and that coaching changes are a normal part of college sports, and not grounds for being released.

Rumor has it that Deandre Jordan is asking for his release so he can pursue another college. Also, rumor has it that he already has verbal agreements from a top sophmore point guard and top junior power forward. Sounds like this guy does not let any grass grow since Friday. Go get 'em Billy!!!

Billy G was on Mike and Mike this morning (espn radio 1300 AM) discussing this exact issue. I think he has been all class in not asking the aggies to release Jordan.

He has done more in 4 days recruiting wise, than Tubby has done in several years.
Several basketball sites and Texas news outlets are reporting that Deandre Jordan is asking out of his LOI to follow Gillispie.
Gerry Vilarino who is a 5 star point guard out of texas has verbally committed to UK, he would be in the 2009 class. And Willie Warren a 5 star shooting guard in the 2008 class is reported to be going to UK.
Lots of good buzz for a program that needs some good buzz.
I will admit, I now have a crush on Billy G.

Amen. You could follow Tubby on the recruiting trail with a horse and buggy. It would take 5 people to keep up with Billy G. Man I can't wait until Basketball season!!!!!!!!I know its going to be a hard road this next year but I still can't wait.

a buddy of mine here said he came across an article about Lucas saying his dad had already explained the ups and downs of coaches in college and lucas said Tubby leaving would not automatically mean UK was off the list.

I listened to the Joe B. & Denny Crum Show this morning and heard the same thing about Jordan. He said he was committed to a college, but wouldn't say it was Texas A & M for sure ...... Sounds as if he might be the next big man on the UK campus...I know you Uk fans will be all excited...But man if it's true Little Brother U of L's win/Loss record is going to be adding another check mark in the LOSS column when the Cats put another butt whoopin on U of L.....:):D
God it makes me want to start rooting for the Cats even more now than before.... But of course I'll always be a true Hoosier fan.........:D
