I get bored at nights alot. I can't fall asleep till around 1am and never really sleep more than 5 hours. I have been thinking about trying to make a couple of lures in my free time after studying at night. I would like to make a couple of crankbaits and lipless crankbaits. Anybody tried their luck at it. I'm not doing it to start a business or make money(although it wouldn't hurt) I just want to do it for fun and see if I can get some fish on my own lures.

Be careful, my buddy started making lures and it ended up a full time hobby. He moved from lures to fish.

That is a really nice carving!! I looked up a few websites last night that sell just about everything you need to make your own crankbaits and every other kind of baits!! I can already tell, this is going to be something that sucks me in and won't let me go. haha:D Its not really that expensive to make your own lures either. You can get everything in bulk pretty cheap

Yes he does, Sam Piatt done an article on him several years ago. The Sauger that I have was one of his 1st ones he done. He has done some neat smallies, ky bass, largemouth, trout, catfish, redfish, frogs, you name it. Everthing is wood even the lure and rocks. Old Dads in Portsmouth ohio has a couple of his carvings on display.

My uncle makes a jointed flatfish, has one treble on the tail and in the midsection he puts a an eye with a spreader bar with a treble on each end. It's one of my favorite river baits, catches everything in the river from muskie to redeye.A flatfish should be one of the easiest lipless baits to carve(I would think anyway)

I have hundreds of soft baits that I have made. Back in high school I made buddies with a teacher that tought engineering classes. He had all kinds of plastics and molds for baits and I made them during class. I even made some colors of my own up. They work great with bait spray.

If you get in to making pop-eye jigs let me know if you would be interested in teaming up to split cost of molds. I have plenty of lead already from when I used to mold split shot sinkers.

most of their stuff is more..I hadn't found this site. Thanks. Of course the prices on luremaking.com are in Canadian dollars too which their dollar is about 75 cents to us somebody told me. But the site you posted has all the smaller things I need for cheaper.

I used to hand pour plastic worms for a local bait company. And I have tried my hand at making spinners and fly tying. It's all a good past-time.:)

Make my own jigs mostly, but have made some spinnerbaits in the past.
