Can't even count the number of birds I heard drumming last weekend.. A few of us go camping/trout fishing every spring and hear them drumming everywhere we go on the creek... Seems like no matter where we camp at there is always a bird close by drumming while we are fixing breakfast..

To me it sounds like an old crank tractor starting up.You can go to the ruffed grouse society site and hear what it sounds like.
Teach, without giving out the coordinates, just where do ya hear all that drummin'?

I heard a few drums here in Letcher County last Saturday Morning. Decided to brave the cold this morning and go turkey scouting and actually saw one in the road.

They were going to call them thumpers, but Walt Disney had already applied for the Trademark name.;)

Hey, Jeff...anytime you want to start hunting grouse or quail again, I'd be happy to bring the dogs over (I live in Grayson)...you can do all the shooting, I'm just interested in getting as much work as possible for my dogs.

if i would do the shooting there would still be as many as before(too many years of turkey and deer hunting) lol.lol.
but if you want to work your dogs and take a few grouse you are more than welcome..and in a few more years i should have a good stable quail covey..

Thank you very much, we'll speak of this again come November. In the meantime, brush up on your wingshooting and plan to join in the fun.
