A few years back I accidently left my tackle bag and a hard case that stored my crankbaits at the launch. I got all the way home and realized I forgot my stuff. Drove back to the launch and of course eveything was gone. After adding up all my stuff I lost close to a $900.00. To my surprise my homeowners insurance covered it as long as I filed a police report. I can't remember what my deductible was, but I was able to replace alot of my stuff. If you had a big bag packed with gear and lures, maybe you can do an inventory and claim it?

Did you have your name and phone number on it or in it?

Its true we invest a lot into our tackle. Other people outside the fishing world don't realize this, but for those who do you got to watch your stuff now or it will disappear so fastit will make your head spin. Its a shame.

I doubt it would do any good. From the sound of it this guy knew you were the owner and was wanting to get away with the goods. If you had your name on the box the guy would just get a new box and keep the baits to himself. I know it stinks but chief huntum had the best idea on turning it into the insurance.

Last year a buddy of mine lost two St. Croix rods and high dollar Shimano reels like that out of the back of his truck. Now he packs the rods in a holder and the reels in his tackle bag, every time.

That sucks, maybe you can put an ad in the local paper and offer a reward? I've found stuff on the road like that before, if there isn't any id on it you can't give it back even if you wanted to.
