Went out yesterday with little luck at Blood River. Me and a friend beat the banks with jigs and only caught 2 keeper crappie. We did catch about 25 white bass. All were small. It was very windy and the water temp was 55.
Went out this morning and the parking lot was packed. I was by myself and decided to stay. It stinks when you have to park the trailer so far away. The water warmed up to 57 degrees. I caught so many white bass I lost count. I also caught a few bluegill, a shellcracker, 2 yellow perch and 18 nice crappie! There were about 2 to 1 white vs black crappie. Only one had eggs and only one had to be thrown back for being under the size limit. The action in the shallows should get hot in the next few days. Most of the die-hards were trolling and spider rigging in the main channel.
Anyone else having any luck?

Be careful, I thought tomorrow was going to be windy. The gusts were hard today, but not unbearable. I might go out again Sunday, but who knows. I might see you out there tomorrow. I need to go out and locate a few turkeys before the LBL quota hunt.

NOAA is showing 3 to 8 mph. That's the lowest I've seen it in a month. :D
I hope they're right. It may be an early trip home if the wind gets up too bad.

Hey Mepp, where are you getting the whiteys(depth not location)Getting ready to get the boat out and that would make a good preseason warmup!!
Mainly a cat man but I love the stripes. Does it mean your old if you still call em stripes?

I just got back from another eventful trip of trash fishing.
I think I caught at least one of everything in the lake (and even one fish that I'm not sure what it is) and only one crappie!
You can almost walk across the the lake on the boats right now and I only saw two crappie caught from daylight until noon.
I talked to a couple of guys about 7:30 that had just got on the water because they went to Blood River and couldn't even get near the parking lot. They said the trucks and trailers were lined up so far trying to unload you couldn't begin to see the lot. They knew something fishy was going on when they saw rigs headed back down the road toward the highway at daylight.
They're parked heading up the hill to the cabins at Kenlake too.

They went too early. I went out about noon and parked in front of the ramp :D . A guy I saw said at 6:30 people were lined up all the way back to the camp entance on the second hill. I took a neighbor and we brought home 20. I'm not a pro so 20 or more in the livewell is fine with me. Me and Jimbo split them and I am happy. What depth were you fishing? We only had 2 with eggs. Only turned 1 back because of size. I read somewhere that this year should be booming as far as size because of a poor spawn a few years back. It looks good so far!

Well, the white depth was around 1-7 or so feet. It wasn't as good today, I think we only caught around 15 and only a few were keeper size. We only kept the crappie today, but would have only kept 5 or less whites. They were slow and on the small size.

I fished a little bit of everything.
They must just be on down that way. Nobody that I talked to today had done any good.
Did you catch yours late? Sounds like they weren't biting this morning if the place had cleared out like that by noon.

We caught them sporadically from noon to around 5, but caught them in several different places. Today should be good too. I plan on going out again today if the wind stays down and I can get someone to go with me. I hate to have to fish by myself.

I hate trying to fish out of my hunting rig.
It's not set up for fishing by any stretch of the imagination.
I've got to get another fishing boat. It's extremely frustrating to live this close to the lake and not have something to fish out of.
