Crappie Depths????

Just wondering how deep you all are catching fish on KY Lake? When do you think the spawn will begin????

Black crappie will start when the water temps hit 50*-55*.

The water temp has been in that range for a little over a week now in a lot of places. ;)

The whites won't start until it breaks 60*

Fish are being caught at pretty much every depth at the moment but the water is still so low that there's not much traditional crappie structure in the way of shallow brush and stake beads with water on it right now.

I went yesterday afternoon and I think the Black Crappie are about 80% done. Alot of big white males on the bank right now. With the weather in the 80's I am guessing that the Whites will be in peak in the next 3 or 4 days. I grew up on Blood River and guided for about 6 years and there is one wives tale that is absoulty true. When the Dogwoods are in bloom the crappie spawn is done.
