We head down there every year for spring break. Just curious if any of you guys have ever fished there? Share any info you have on good spots & lures you have success with. Thanks!

Yep, fished the Bassmaster Pro Tour tournament there two years ago and did real well. Fished with Shaw Grisby on the first day and did real well being in 12th place after the first day of of 300+ boats. Got a crappy draw the second day on a guy that screwed me all day with boat position, etc. and he never caught a fish all day. Anyway, his poor performance killed me. I love the lake and it is a very good lake. I could go on about tips, etc but think I will have something that will be more complete. Just go to this website and it should have everything you need. Website is

I got my fish crigging a green pumkpin lizard in scattered grass with a hard rocky bottom around it. Then caught some later in the day on a green pumpkin senko. Second day I caught fish throwing a red rattle trap on flats. Throw out your rattle trap and reel it slowly around and over grass, when get feel the grass pop the lure free and that is when they will hit. I was fishing the last week of February. The website above should serve you will with current conditions, reports, seasonal patterns and tips/tricks. Three years ago the winning pattern was suspending jerkbaits, followed by rattle traps over the grass flats. When I fished it Zell Rowland won it on a jig around boat docks with cover and also rattle traps. The guy who came in second caught his fish on a deep diving crankbait fished over and around a hump with grass.
Take care and let me know how you do.

Thanks guys. I actually have been checking that website out for the past 3 years -- usually there is some helpful info on there. I always like to get as much info as possible.
mcdenney -- are there any particular parts of the lake that you've have more success on than others? South Sauty seems to be the best area for us when we're there. Lizards and some custom made crankbaits used to do the trick for us, but they haven't brought in a lot of fish in the last 2 years. Looks like spinnerbaits are pretty hot right now too.

Lots of good fishing all over that lake, IMO. South Sauty, Spring Creek and North Sauty ;) .
