i pulled that fish out of the water and the lake dropped 3 feet:D ......natural missed his calling in life, if you will notice i am in the back of the boat at the mercy of the man in front.....he took us to every drum hole on the lake...i kept trying in a very subtle way to remind him we were crappie fishing, but he wouldn't hear of it......:D

He didn't waste any time getting that picture up, did he? :D

You know... that's about the size of the crappie you dumped off at the side of the boat.

Quackr I think the crappie he let get off at the boat was bigger than the drum. Had he actually waited on me to get the NET I don't know if I could have lifted that crappie in the boat.

Nothing like thinking you have a monster crappie on the line, only to pull in a drum. Happened 4 times to me last weekend.

Ha. Anybody ever try eating one?

I've seen several of them kept by folks catfishing below KY and Barkley dams.

People in LA make some sort of cajun dish out of them too.

I've never eaten one.

I've caught a few in the river, too small to fool with. I know folks that eat them, and have seen some whoppers on other folks' stringers, but never heard of any complaints of bones or taste.

I think they are good to eat in the winter, just cut the dark meat out and they fry up great. They also fight well for a little while.

They filet nicely if they have any size to them. I've eaten several. They taste like fish:D. They're fun to catch if nothing else is biting. Also they have Pearls in their head.Don't know what they do but I've got a bag full of them , plan on polishing them up and making a necklace or something out of them.

I have eaten alot of drum. They have to be eaten fresh, never leave them in the fridge too long, and NEVER freeze and try and eat.Drum fishing is pretty fun, especially in the river with some current and when they get turned sideways on ya, wonderful fight!

They are good!!!! Big ones tend to take on a lightly strong flavor- but that can be easily overcome with seasoning. A common dish served over a bed of rice is known as courtbouillion(pronounced coo be ahh)

I kid you not; a guy at work (non-fisherman) went on a fishing excursion while on his honeymoon some years ago. When he got back he was bragging about the 8lb silver bass he caught and was having mounted. He showed us the pics and it was a danged old drum. He said he didn't care, it was a big fish and he was proud of it. He did indeed get it mounted and it hangs over his fireplace to this day.

"Silver bass"

Boy, the guide saw that guy coming. :D

There you go Keith, you could be one of the only guides in the country offering elusive "silver bass" excursions.

Would you see if he is interested in a guided trip to catch a trophey "Gold" bass to go with his "Silver".;)

Now that is some funny stuff right there. I don't guess the BassMaster's let you enter those "Silver Bass" into their tourney?
