Auk and I visited Creelsboro on Friday. He had been telling me about the "ghost town" for some time...when we got there, we found that a lot of people had moved back into the area and some of the old buildings had been torn down. Here are a few photos of what was left.

After a little bit of research, I found out that there were two other ghost towns in Kentucky, Paradise (Mulhenburg County), and Scuffletown (Henderson County). I know that some of the guys on here live in these counties. Are you all familiar with the areas? I am just curious as to if any of the original structures are still there.

Nothing left of Paradise, TVA loading dock now sits where the last buildings were. There is a neat place just down river of there...Old Adrie... storys have been told of it being a prison but it never was. Large stone building that still stands and part of a smelting furnace from when iron ore was found in that area back in the 1800's. Warning If you don't like snakes then stay away from this place...:D

I know Creelsboro well. We own a cabin down on the Cumberland river just about 7 or 8 minutes from Creelsboro. I have been told that years ago it was actually a thriving little town, had lots of buildings, even a large bank. There is still a country store there that we get supplies at, lots of old timers in there telling stories.

Is the cabin located at Bell's Harbor?

Bells Harbour doesn't ring a bell to me. The area we are in is a group of about 5 or 6 cabins, with still a few lots for sale. The dirt road you turn down is right after you pass a church. As far as the river runs, we are about a mile past the powerlines.

I live in Russell Co. Creelsboro is in Russell Co. It was a triving community in the steam boat days and liked 1 vote becoming the county seat. When the steamboats quit running the town slowly died. With the new developments and the threat of US 127 being rerouted close to Creelsboro, the town may thrive again. If you want anymore histor let me know.

When did people start moving back into Creelsboro? Do you know who lived in the large house with the red bud tree in front?
