How many of you trap coyotes? What's your favorite set?

I haven't trapped for coyotes a whole lot but my brother is pretty good at catching them and he sticks with a dirthole set.

Dirtholes work great but a snare in the right situation is hard to pass up. The country I trap has a lot of overgrown fence lines. A lot of times its just a matter of finding the one or two paths through the tangled mess to find the coyotes.

Good luck.

yeah my brother does pretty good with the snares too. He likes to set them in the fence rows as well. Another good technique is a scent post set. These are also good for fox.

Hey trapper, is there still a good market for yotes??? I heard they were going to sell high this year? Do you flesh yours out, or just sell them green & salted?

The market is supposed to be pretty good for yotes this year with prices anywhere from 15.00 for a ok pelt up to 35 for primes. Fleshed furs seem to bring a little more than greens.

i once took a trapping course from pro...i still have all the literature somewhere cost me like $100 i took it on fox, coyotes then another on mink (right now i cant recall his name he was a well known trapper from wisconsin) his favorite set for yotes was to take a deer carcass and and cover it up with cedars etc..to keep buzzards off it..and make dirt hole sets near the carcass...proved to be a very effected set...

i also have a Fur Fish & Game trapping video on foxes/yotes with Tom Miranda shows how to make different snares and how to place them shows mulitple catches on foxes...i might would be willing to part with this tape
