Went Monday morning till mid-day on Skgs crk. Water was almost to clear but the fish didn't seem to mind. Caught several crappie with 20 keepers which averaged 10 1/2'' using 1/16 ounce jig and pearl baby assassin with float 2' deep. The fish were very active early then the sun got higher and they stopped. I then started throwing a shad rap and caught 3 bass over 15'' and a 6 lb. channel cat. I would love to show the picture I had taken with my phone but so far I can't find the right piece I need to download on the computer. My stepfather fished with me and he had 19 keeper crappie. We caught all 39 out of the same hole. Water is still being pulled down but I guess the temp is right and the fish are moving up. Heard the forecast and rain is on the way, hope it doesn't come a flood and raise the lake to fast. Will report on the next time I get to go.

Thanks for the report. Thinking about taking my son down there for a little fun fishing. Do you care to elaborate on the type of structure I should look for? Thanks.

I was fishing from the bank in the channel itself, you couldn't get a boat where I was at. There is an old tree I always do good on when the water/lake level is 531-533. If you are going out in a boat I would go up Peters crk. Just past the old road bed there is a rock bluff with the golf course above it. At the end of that bluff the creek swings left and there will be 3 small pockets. The point between the last two pockets has always been good when the water is barely over those stumps. I use a 1/16 ounce jig with a 2" chaurtuese twister there and fish shallow around the stumps. If you go on up to hickory point around the bend of another rock wall there is good fishing there also. Fish should be coming up shallow around visible cover all in these areas, good luck

NoTime Limit,
Fished those areas myself early Saturday morn. Caught several small ones and a few keepers. Looks like I was a little bit to early in the season. I was using a 1/8 oz. jig w/ chartruese bass assisin. Before we left there was more boats than fishing holes though. It being a Saturday I was expecting that.;) Piebald.

I just checked the lake level report and it's at 531. The area in Peters crk needs to be 538-540 to be at the best level. I keep a record of lake records for different areas sorry I just now checked this out. Your right about the boats on the lake now and that's the reason I'm selling my boat. Last year finally done me in and besides I usally catch all I need from the banks well before the crowds start fishing. Boats are an easier way to access areas but when you have to take a number it's not worth it. By the way my boat is a 16' bass tracker with a 60 horse mercury if anyone is interested.
