can you fellas suggest a shade tolerant plant for deer? Seems that the plans for the bigger plots got shot down. No we have to resort to some smaller areas unsuitable for hay cutting. One area in particular is a roadway covered by a tall canopy, not much sunlight, some, but no much

thanks in advance

Marshall rye grass and white dutch clover, but you still need about 4 hours minimum of sunlight for it to last very long.

Thanks Tom. I'll check into the clover at SS this weekend. I wil assume I can use a VERY light tilling, broadcast and maybe cultipack it down? Maybe add a little lime?

More than likely, you'll need more lime than you care to haul. Just put out as much as you think you can afford and see how it does. One bag of fert. will be enough--use 6-20-20 or something similar.

Very good. Thank you, Sir.

On another note: How well do long, narrow plots work for an actual "hunting" plot? It's essentially an old road bed. About 15' wide and 100 yards long. Most of what you see on TV is 5 acre fields. ;)

Check SS ASAP I just bought a 3 lb bag of White Dutch Clover a couple days ago and they had it at SS here on sale. $15.99 for a three pound bag...thats not much of a sale but a couple $$ off the regular price here. Three pounds goes a long way FWIW.
