If you buy Knight & Hale's Gobbler Guide it will tell you, but I'll save you the money.
According to the guide, in Zone 2 (May 3-May 18), Transition Period 4, "the majority of the time hens are no longer available. Gobblers spend a lot of time going to strut zones...Gobblers spend most of their time strutting the zones usually 10-15 minutes before moving to the next zone. Gobblers frequent these zones on a regular basis which can be easily patterned.
The guide has a margin of error of five days, but I've found it to be very accurate. I didn't quote everything, but that's the basic description.

Mid may can be hard in KS. You'll mostlikely be around crop fields and crops in may are pretty darn high making visibility slim. Most of KS will have very little big timber to hunt so terrain will be your biggest obstacle. The hens will be sitting by then and you'll find toms spending time strutting all by their lonesone. If you find a bird he will likely be killable but he'll probably already seen a lot of tricks. Use soft calls and scratching.
