That varies from year to year based on things such as weather conditions, hunting pressure etc. I've always had good luck the last week of April myself but you know what I say " you can't fill a tag sitting on the couch." I'm in your boat as far as work and vac. so every time I get the chance I'm out there.

If I had to pick one that would be mine too. Hunting pressure plays a big roll and your best bet is early in the season. If that dont work out for time off ....dont get too discouraged....at any given time , place or weather conditions....you can call a bird up. You just have to be in the woods to do it.

Get out there the first week while the birds are still fresh and aren't listening for what calls are lovers and what calls are hunters;)

Trust us on this one. Yea, sure, the toms are supposed to be more receptive that last week of the season due to nesting hens leaving him lonely, what there are left that ain't been shot at, spooked a dozen times ect... I take all three every year& if i were given the choice of only one week, it be the first!

i'm no expert, but i really think the best time to be in the turkey woods is whenever u can be there. i don't think turkeys react to pressure the way deer do. also, don't give up after 9-10 in the am, i've killed plenty of them in the middle of the day. just my $.02

exactly. I would have never killed a bird had I always left at 0900.

My personal favorite is the first week through the last week! I havn't hunted very long but with our season here in Kentucky coming in a little later than some other states I think the first is the best because there are still some toms lookin for a lady friend.

I like em all. 1st week plenty of gobblin & can be easy. 2nd week gets very tough & makes you do a lot of changing of tactics. 3rd week settles back down for the guys that like to hunt but holds out for the last week kill.

I like the first week. Fewer call-shy birds. By the time that third week rolls around, more than likely any bird in the woods is going to have heard at least one caller. Not to say that birds will not respond to calls later in the season....because I've had them respond late. I just like to be the first one to get to them during that first week. Seems like for me, I've had better luck during the first week. :)
