Im in the market for a youth 20-gauge for my son.
I've narrowed it down to the Mossberg Bantam or
the 870. My question is which one shoots (patterns)
better, I thought someone on here might have had
some experience with either gun.
Or maybe someone has other gun suggestions.

My son started with a 20 gauge single shot Stevens which had been fitted for youth. Worked well. Moved up to a Winchester DU Whistler 20 gauge pump that also worked well. But I don't think you can go wrong with a 870.

I have a 870 youth 20,which I am looking to sell(outgrown it), and with hevi-shot and a modified choke I can put somewhere around 15 shots in the kill zone of a turkey at 40 yards. It about 35 shots at 20 yards. I think it patters great

Thanks for the info. all.
Id be interested to see how that gun patterns
with a X-full choke tube.
If you weren't so far away I'd make you an offer.

Yeah I understand it is a good ways away. I have found that with the hevi-shot it patterns better with the modified instead of the extra full. I'm not sure why but it does. Kinda wierd

My son's remington works well. I can't comment on the other brands.
