This will be my 3rd consecutive year of strictly bowhunting turkeys. I actually feel more confident at 40 yards shooting my Mach X than I do shooting a shotgun. I practice with my bow everyday, wether competitively or messing around in my backyard.

My buddy and I were talking about trying a spring bow hunt for turkeys.....we took one last fall, and got it on tape.

I've strictly bowhunted them for 10 years, I've killed 20 with a bow, some fall as well.
I use a blind and now I'll only attempt neck/head shots. I've shot 3 different birds in the middle of the back into the vitals and flopping and dragging their legs, still had them fly over 200 yards.
The neck is as large as the vital area and you can see where it is, you miss it an inch and get to try him another day, not so with a body hit.
It's more of a rush to misss one with the bow than it is to kill one with a shotgun, but I've killed more with a shotgun than I have a bow. ANy turkey is a trophy with a bow, pick your shot.
Good hunting!

First year I settled for a jake on the last day of the season, second year got skunked, last season I connected on my 2 best turkeys on back to back mornings. Im starting to figure things out I guess.

I love gettin em with my bow and i normally use it till i get the first bird.(from a blind) Then switch to the shotgun when i'm run'n'gunnin or if i get desprate close to the end of season in the spring. During the fall its bow only for me.
So, not really too strict here.

I've had to chase down one or two myself. Its a bad feelin when your sure you had a good shot and they hop up and fly off. Only lost one tho. Its hard to stay on a blood trail when they take to the air and back down.
I'm thinkin bout tryin the gobbler guilotine broadhead. seems like it would work pretty good for head shots.

Not strictly but I'm gonna have 2 full days to try it out Kansas this spring. They are gonna have a bow only season the week before gun season opens so I'm gonna give it a try.

I think the head/neck shot is great advise. When we first had a fall archery season several years ago, I shot several birds that I never recovered. It really turned me against archery turkey hunting. I'm trying it again this spring, but I will not shoot a bird in the body. I'll be lopping some heads off, or I'll be missing:)
