Yea, you may not be able to hunt your farm period. The bating laws are so hard to interpret, your nieghbor may not be able to hunt his farm if he knows you have a birdfeeder:D

Yep. But it is a nice view you have there.

Is there any bird seed in those feeders? If the answer is yes, it would be illegal. All bait must be removed within 30 days of the season. Bird seed is just as much a "bait" as corn. If you want to porch bust one of those gobblers, make sure all your bird seed is gone by March 16th.

Well I dont think I want to shoot one from the house anyway because we enjoy watching them.
But they do tear up the yard, my wife moved the bird feeder about 25 yds from the house a couple of days ago.
Here is a pic from when it was about 15 ft from the deck.

Nice pics.
It would be illegal, unless removed 30 days prior to opening day.

Buckfever: Is it 30 days or now March 1?

Under the new Reg. this feeding would be allowed because it is within the curtalige of the home. Legal to feed year round as described. Illegal to hunt for turkeys anytime

Ditto what he said.

You can put out feed within the "curtilage" of the homestead, but you can't use that as an excuse to bait for turkeys. The "no baiting" regs applicable to turkey hunting are still valid.

Just consider the new "no feeding" regs to be in addition to the regs as they existed last year.

Except for the "curtilage area" in the yard, it is now illegal for anybody to put corn out after March 1st for feeding wildlife or baiting.
However, if you clean corn pile up by March 14, would comply with 30 days prior to turkey hunting reg.
A little confusing.

I don't know if it would be illegal or not but I don't think a judge in the country would uphold the charge of turkey hunting over a bird feeder in the back yard. JMO

I think you'd get convicted in a heart beat.

Let me clarify, I see guys caught red handed around here every year with no more than a slap on the wrist. Only one guy that I know of got the book threw at him.

I guess if you go by the "law" you could be given a ticket if you continue to put bird seed in that feeder after March 1st.

You say that as if your experienced at it.

The new regs allow you to still put out bird feed within the "curtilage" of your house, you just couldn't hunt a turkey over that bird feeder.

I will be if you invite me out for a rise-and-shine breakfast at your place on April 15th. :D

Naw, never actually porch busted a turkey before, but have shot one within 50 yards of a house before though.

If you hunt your property the dafe bet is to not put any more feed in the feeder. If you continue to feed wildlife even in the curtilage of your home and turkey use it you can still be cited for baiting turkey. If you have a neighbor close I think he could get in trouble as well if he knows you have the feeder.

I don't like the fact that the laws get more confusing every year. I do think most all are needed though. Hunting over a pile of feed is not hunting in my mind. It is more like killing. I go out hunting because I truly enjoy it. The last thing I want to do is break a law and possibly create more stress or problems than I already have in my everyday life. Hunting is suppose to be a stress reliever for me. If you get out in the woods and see or hear birds, it has been a good day!

Remember it is hunting and not killing!

I had a guy tell me that it is only "illegal" if you get caught!!!
